Das Glockenspiel means "The Glockenspiel" The glockenspiel is a musical instrument that is composed of wooden blocks that make a note, sorta like a mettalophone. A glockenspiel makes the main melod in the tune.
carte Blanche means "White Card"
I was told by someone that backstage passses were referred to as White Cards, although i'm not sure. That is where the connotation of "the freedom to do stuff" comes from as u can do lotsa stuff when u go backstage or something!
