Dog Running Politics...could you imagine goin' for it?

So we all like to discuss it, analyze it, criticize it but are you people considering PARTICIPATING in it? Are we all passive moaning lazy cowards or just cynics without hope to really change something. Or do u just prefer something else?

Would you go into politics?
I think I would under certain circumstances, especially international politics like some nice UN position would interest me. Or being a political adviser...

I don't think I could take all the bullshit ...

Btw, what's with the new avatar? Come to the realiziation you don't like kids?

Posted by Arbiter on Feb-28-2003 17:09:

Not a chance. I'm far too cynical, I mean realistic, to believe I could actually make a positive difference. It would only draw me closer to the stench of corruption.

Nah it's just my way of dealing with a failed driving test, mainly caused by a little child who's got nothing better to do than playing with snow next to the street...ehh..oh well... I didnt "stop immediately" (since i so came to the conclusion that that fucking kid had no intention whatsoever to cross the road) and that was it

back to the topic: I think there are situations where you, as a politician, can still change a lot: Rabin, Ghandi, Luther King...but yeah, thats the exception. There are many directors and just a few Spielbergs (or Scorceses for you Spielberg-haters!)

BWHAHA, anyone else find this really ironic? please don't go into politics! I can just see you requiring all little kids to stay indoors on snowy days for the sake of people taking driving tests.

hm, i just saw some "sense of humor" auctions on ebay, maybe u should take a look?

Posted by JohnSmith on Feb-28-2003 20:51:

are you selling yours? because i think it's defective, i'm not buying.

Posted by montie on Feb-28-2003 21:42:

nope i would not go into politics.
I don't have the public speaking skills.
And if you go into politics, if you wan't to be successfull (in the sense of gaining power), you have to "sell out" in one way or another.
thats why most politicians do whats best for them first, then they do whats good for the country.

Rasta

never ever
its such a horrible profession IMO. you're always required to make decisions that may conflict with your better judgement or ethics. Your a puppet most of the time...

i someday plan to be a dictator of the world.

but in order to do that, i'll have to come up with a master "politics" plan, so i guess, you can call that politics...right?

politics aren't for me man. i'll do as much as i can with my VOTE

Although, if I was to be realistic, this statement is closer to the truth.

Also, my atheism/agnosticism wouldn't jive well with....everyone even though I don't mind religion.

If I could...hell yes. Canadian MP's are paid extremely well with so many tax free benefits..i've lost count. Not to mention, a great pension then after you are done, normally the Prime Minister gives you a cushy job like ambassador to los angeles like kim campbell or ambassador to new york like pamela wallin, both 180,000 a year jobs funded by cdn taxpayers.
