in my opinion, this is the best and scariest film i have ever seen. yeah there are classics like omen and exorcist and b movie films like evil dead and top hollywood films like 6th sense and of course you got the crap fest like 13th ghosts. but THE RING is the only film that creeped me out and a week later after watching it, i still am bothered of the images i've seen.
really scary though that the dvd version only has 2 extras. a 15 minute documentary and some trailers for other movies.

okay i know im not alone here and hopefully im not, but don't you just hate it when a dvd comes out all bare boned and hardly no extras just to find out that several months down the year, it comes out with a special edition or criterion collection or whatever else money making scheme dvd companies try to do and piss you off. i hate that im sorry!

so maybe out there there are some dvd buffs and super experts that know when a special edition re issue is coming out in the future for a certain film. so my question is, will there be a special edition for the RING in the future???should i go ahead and buy this or wait for a more packed dvd set? that is unless there will be none coming out for more than 1 year.

I'm hoping so too, remake was alright, but paled in comparison to the orig.

They had to make it more 'universally accessable' so they make a hollywood one with a bigish name actress, blah, blah

p.s. dont watch it at night with ur phone next to u, after i watched the first half, my phone rang, fucking scared the shit outta me, whilst it was only a wrong number!

The remake really sucked, horrible acting and directing and uses cheap gimmicks to scare people. The original, now THAT's a classic horror film.

anyone seen ring 2? i think its better than ring but in a different way... it makes things a lot clearer hehe

I saw the remake and thought it was horrible. Didn't scare me at all, and I thought it just came off as cheesy. I'll have to check out the original though, sounds a lot better.

yeah im talking about the remake. the remake is much more people friendly to me. i saw RINGU and that one wasn't scary at all.

to me it's really getting cliche to like the original and diss the remakes without giving it a chance.

You know what, i was thinking the same thing reading through this thread. I've seen the original and thought it was good, but I haven't seen the remake. Reading some posts in here and in another thread leads me to believe that a lot of people here never gave the remake a chance, and passed it off as "cheesy" or over "hollywoodized." Oh well, off to see Old School.

I've only seen the remake (yesterday) and thought it was awesome. Best movie I've seen since Magnolia.

Is the original all that different or just in a different language? I'm thinking of hiring it as well.

Japan had the first movie of the Ring. It's called Ringu. U can get it on tuesday as it will be released in America alongside Dreamworks' The Ring. I've seen The Ring and i thought it was so brilliantly scary. The Ring definently has the Scare factor, but Ringu has the "freak u out" factor.
Ring is HUGE in japan. From what i heard there is Ring 2, Ring 0 (prequel) and 2 more called Ring Virus and something else. They also had a TV miniseries about it.
I can only hope Dreamworks' will continue the story of The Ring

the ring is my fav. movie for sure now, along with minority report

anyone else see darkness falls? thats really feckin freaky
