International Montreal TA debate #2 - WHOSE the BEST PRODUCER

ok, My suggestion for best producer is solar stone. Non stop club thumpers from solar stone. been around since 1997 (at least) and I can't find a bad solar stone song. only countless good ones.

I will have to say Deep dish ... and tenaglia .. they both put out club stomper wich was played by all kinds of dj's

I mean circuit boy feat. alan t - The doors ( Dannyu tenaglia mix AND dub ) was played by techno dj's

Alcatraz - Give me luv ( Deep dish 11th hour mix ) was also played by techno dj's

i could go on and on and on _.. event trance dj's played tenaglia and deep dish in their lives !!!

Tho i have to say that the OLD timo maas was quite impressive but now ... he's a massive sleeper in his compo.

Onionz is a great house producer, todd terry too

Man there's too much

Anywa i'll stick with Dt and DD !!!

krinker take it easy . there is no way tenaglie is considered as one of the best producers. i will give you that he's one of the mos amazing dj's out there, and you are making your opinion on like two tracks. if it was about crossover tracks i could say the same thing from the filterheadz, who with sunshine had techno, house and trance djs playing that tune. and also you mention remixes. we are talking producers so that will include their original productions. just check some l.s.g. (oliver lieb) cds and check what quality is

Heh, this is a damned tough thread.

Best newcomer IMO is Junkie XL, he's a sick sick engineer.

For trance, God I don't even want to half to pick. I love the dutch boys, I love PvD, I love solarstone, I love Push, Airwave is a God, MEH, can't even come close to deciding =)

Damn, how could I have forgotten Alice Deejay on my list!

Posted by Biggy on Mar-06-2003 22:11:

I would say Daft Punk!

Posted by alec on Mar-06-2003 22:17:

good call jf, forgot about them. their commercial stuff is huge. I was just thinking more in terms of club wise, like dj/producers or music that djs (proper djs)would play, otherwise someone like MJ is the all time greatest producer.

Posted by malek on Mar-06-2003 22:46:

Daft Punk have a special place in my book! I love what they do!

These guys brought electronic to the masses with their cool video clips and accessible music! You all remember that crazy clip where the main character is a dog? hehe I was hooked on it!

Posted by alec on Mar-06-2003 23:02:

notable mention to fat boy slim, paul oakenfold, tiesto, pvd, ferry corsten, and oliver lieb

he's no newcomer. he's been producing for a long time. he has 3 albums out i think? it's just that he just started working with the big guys now

Posted by mastercongo on Mar-06-2003 23:13:

i agree with malek and biggy. daft punk does some good stuff. same with fatboy slim and even basement jaxx. :P and alec, for what i hear. BT said that oakenfold doesnt do any tunes. he has two producers who make them for him.

Posted by malek on Mar-06-2003 23:22:

fat boy slim fucking owns too!! Basment jaxx was ok with their first cd but went down lately...

How about Laurent Garnier, Mirwais and my man Armand Van Helden

Posted by alec on Mar-06-2003 23:22:

hey, basement jaxx to, great guys. Well i was more referring to the old paul oakenfold, but if that's the case, hes an ass, Ive heard similar things about Tiesto as well

Posted by alec on Mar-06-2003 23:25:

FLOWERS - Armand van helden

Correct, but he hasn't started doing prog/trance until now (correct me if I'm wrong). I heard one of his albums in like 97/98 and it was all pretty experimental 180bpm style shit =)

Posted by Biggy on Mar-07-2003 01:10:

Daft Punk are bigger producers than any other dj's you named!

Also, they put french house on the map!

I can't name all their huge tracks because there is too many.

Aroud the world
Burnin
Da Funk

shit, there is so many!!!

I liked their older stuff, but their newest album didn't measure up in my opinion.
