EDM going "main stream" in US

what are your views on EDM going "main stream"

would you like EDM to get bigger and have a wider fan base in the US? I mean the US is a big market so i am sure it will get "main stream" in couple of years.

By "main stream" i dont mean fully going to the stage where hip hop/Pop are at now. But i want to see some ads for djs and their albums on the TV or over the radio, posibbly have a radio station that does some type of EDM shows and ocassionaly hear couple of good EDM tracks during the normal day air time. I think doing this will get more people will know about EDM and there will be a greater demand/fan base for it.

Or do you just want it to stay where it is right now?

i like where it is right now, if it were too get too popular then the whole feel would be lost.

for example- you find a band you like and see them somewhere small like roseland, then they get big and suddenly they are selling out MSG. this has happened to me so many times and i lose interest.

i mean can you imagine pvd playing MSG? lol.
exit was too packed to even enjoy it-
so if EDM were to get more popular then it would be more crowded and less enjoyable.

it is pretty mainstream now, listen to any car commercial.

i like where it is right now.

i dont think theres any need to "force" on making electronika a mainstream in the states.. i mean it has grown very rapidly over the past few years.. and i think it will eventually get bigger but i dont think it is a good idea to have edm tracks played on a regualar basis, cuz radio stations operate depending on "whats hot" and if thats the case, you'll be hearing a good track goto waste within weeks.. if someone was operating a station independantly and was playing whatever he\she wanted to and not by requests, yeah why not? but then this will be underground not mainstream... and tv ads, they had commercials for area 2 tour on many channels even non cable channels..also i think that if edm does get "mainstream" in the states, the vibe will be somewhat killed..i like the fact that, we still gotta "research" about artists\djs, events, tracks, etc.. instead of being all in your face..more mainstream it becomes, there wil be more ppl wanting to jump on the bandwagon thinking its "the thing to do"(goin to clubs, get wasted to 'international dj's sounds')
i dunno, im not much of a fan of edm being mainstream but i am a fan of more quality underground movements of edm

If it gets on TV, its all over. MTV will commercialize the fuck out of it.. and the same thing will happen to EDM as what happened to every style of music.
Recently Punk music has gotten alot of play (starting line, AFI, Finch, Taking back sunday). I listen to these bands and they are gonna play the songs out so bad.

Consider this.. remember how Played out Rapture got?
Rapture never made it on MTV in the US, and I heard it 30 times a day.

EDM replacing Hiphop and Britney as the US's future pop music isnt likely to happen...you see how some tracks are released as "radio edits?" it's because people dont have the attention span/time/patience to listen to a 8 - 11 minute song develop its whole expression...let the masses get their fill of "L'Italiano's" and keep the real dance music to the few who have a clue

whatever.. let it get mainstream... I think trying to be all elitist about music is crap... I mean, you shouldn't like music because it's not well known or dislike it for how popular it gets... no offense, but that to me is very selfish and shows that you don't like the music for what it really is... if you really love the music you listen to you won't care about how popular it gets or who is listening to it...

let it get mainstream... It couldn't possibly cause any harm...

yeah but if it gets too popular one can not be in a comfortable environment to enjoy it. a really packed club is no fun. that is why i like it now. i will always like the music no matter how popular it gets, but when i go out to a club to listen i want to be in a comfortable environment. if it gets too popular than that env't will no longer be AS comfortable.

things dont work the same here in the US as they do overseas

the second the media sees that EDM can be profitable, they will cheese it out so everyone and their grandmothers would love it.

there is tons of cheese production in europe already, but not always from the big name DJ's.

There are cheese artists like "DJ Jan Wayne" and many more.. and they produce/ remake tracks for everybody and their grandma
