Pole Folder - Dust 'mixing'

Pole Folder - Dust

A question for all you prog heads, or anyone that thinks that 'Pole Folder - Dust' is amazingly beautiful.

I'm in the process of making a mix CD. I want to make a pretty downtempo, almost chilled journey. One thing however is that I desperately want to include the original mix of 'Dust' beacuse I love it so much, but I'm really struggling to find a tune that I can mix Dust into well, and a tune to mix out of it with.

Perhaps I'm putting too much importance on this one track in the mix, but because of how highly I rate it, I really want it to be a great transition in and out of the tune

anyway, anybody who is familiar with the tune, your help is appreciated

Oli

Considering it's a progressive trance track that relies on progressive house elements, it should'nt be too hard to mix out of.
Think of it this way: For progressive trance or house, the more you mix of any 2 tracks, the harder it is to differentiate the mixing.

Indeed there are loads of progressive tracks to mix it in with... I remember I mixed the Pole Folder track in Gabriel&Dresden - Lament and out in Main Element - Take me down (Lemon8) in my december prog mix.

ummm for a downtempo CD i really don't know too many other downtempo songs that would mix well.
Try Sasha - Lupus (Jimmy Van M | Cass & Slide Remix)
Also Sasha - Wavy Gravy works pretty well with it. I've mixed that song into it a couple of times.
I find it mixs really well with The Roots feat. Lior Attar - Lo Step
that song is'nt really downtempo though.
I like the mix though because of the change in track feeling. you go from being chilled to slowly getting built up then getting your ass kicked.

Thanks for the suggestions

I'm not trying to disguise the fact that it's difficult to mix, burns, because I don't think it is I was just looking for peoples opinions of tracks that work well with it

well IMO its not that easy to mix the original version of Dust cause of the breaks. I would choose Second hand satellites - Orbit 1.1 (or any of the Orbit remixes) if you have it cause I think they would work pretty good. Or maybe Telepopmusik - Breathe (Extended mix) or Pole Folder & CP - Apollo vibes.

Ok I know it sounds dumb but I mixed the G&D remix of Dust into the Original and it sounded pretty good. The Original had a laid back feel to it, with melodic elements towards the end, and the G&D is just a little bit harder, and it takes its time to introduce the main melody into the track, so for me it presented itself as an ideal next track. Mixed properly, it sounds like a dub extension to the Original. Pretty cool!

Kind of like how John Digweed mixed Morel - True (Dub Mix) into Morel - True (Vocal Mix) on his Bedrock CD's. It was SEAMLESS, and it really sounded awesome! there's no shame in doing that, as long as it sounds good and the flow keeps going.
