-- What should I buy??

Confused What should I buy??

For my second deck, i'm looking for a deck between the 400 and 500 (550 is an absolulte maximum). Now, i have been thinking... I could take the Q-30 from JB, but, i'm not completely happy with the motor in that deck... Or i could buy a technics, who cost me about 600... But, actually, my question was, what do you guy's suggest to buy. I have been looking around for decks between the Q30 and the Technics, so succes so far. I have found some, but people complain about them...

Btw, what do you think of the Numark TTX-1?

what about a used Tech 12??

all we have are tech 12's (8 total now) - wouldnt buy anything else

Posted by Tiger777 on Mar-07-2003 11:14:

yea, i meant that with the technics. I know, they're very good. But, isn't there a good deck between the 400 and 600 in?

For some serious beatmatching

The Stanton STR8-80 got a good review:

So did the Gemini PDT-6000:

Posted by Tiger777 on Mar-09-2003 13:30:

ya, the geminis are good... But, big problem, they dont sell it anymore in belgium... Maybe any1 who might know a hidden shop in belgium where they sell Gemini's?

Posted by Martin McG on Mar-09-2003 13:36:

order them over the net

Posted by Tiger777 on Mar-09-2003 13:47:

yeah, i could do that. But, i dont like doing that... I'll probably have to when nobody knows any stores where they sell geminis.

The Gemini PDT-6000 does interest me, It's a good alternative for the TTX1 from numark (and it costs half of what the ttx costs) The torque is a little less... 3Kg/cm, but, that isn't too bad I recon...

From the reviews that I've been reading in other forums, by word of mouth, recommendations from stores themselves, and from some Professional DJS, the only comparable decks to Technics(and some actually do say even better than technics) and cost less money are the Numark TTX1 :

Djmart scratch tested and mixing approved. Clean and up to date design. Highly Recommended by Djmart. The most modern turntable in the market. Loads of features and cool blue lighting.
Direct drive ultra high torque open motor ( 3.7 kgf-cm Peak)
Will be the highest torque turtable available.
Straight and S-shaped tone arms included
Solid core steel top, rubber base
Interchangeable pitch fader and button cartridges for club and battle style
Detachable power and audio connections
Removable target light w/ super bright white LED
Blue illuminated display w/ 10, 20 and 50% pitch range, 33-45-78 RPM, reverse, adjustable brake and start-up times
Digital out, line output, key lock

See 'em and the other ones at my friends shop at

^^^^^
fuck those look really really nice!

I've had my heart set on the SL1200-MK3D for some time now... but now I'm not so sure... I need to see an extremely detailed comparison of the two decks!

Posted by Tiger777 on Mar-10-2003 20:32:

I know, they have a pretty good torque too... But, the prices of this baby are confusing me... I read 350 somewhere, i read 700 elsewhere... My first eye fell on that deck, but 700 is a little out of my budget, so I forgot bout it.

Thats probably 350 for 1 and 700 for 2. They will never outlasta set of technics tho'. technics are the most superiorly built deck on the market.

Posted by Tiger777 on Mar-10-2003 20:39:

no, really, i red (somewhere) they cost 700's a piece... I think, if I find somewhere to get them for 350-400, i'll go for TTX'es. If not, I go for the Gemini PDT-6000. If, I may win the lotteries, I go for technics

Posted by Mister_Michel on Mar-10-2003 21:34:

The cheapest that I found was $399.95 (= +-700? - I don't know how the dollar stand right now)

And I also just read that there appear to be some serious errors involving the tone arms, but I don't have any details nor proof about this. And there appears to be something with the stuff used to close the tt tooand with the scale and anti-skating stuff It appears that the difference in price compared to the technics are al little hidden...

You would be alot better of with the Gemini PDT-6000

Posted by DCaff on Mar-11-2003 05:42:

Well, i dont think so... Lets look at the torque of both decks.
the gemini has a peak power of 3Kg/Cm (that is still alot) but the ttx has got a peak power of 3.7 kg/cm... almost 1kg more... but, expept that, there aren't lots of differences

It don't matter how they look or even what THEY spec them out as. You will never know till you use it in its proper enviroment. Looks nice could be Cast iron and moulded plastic, wouldn't that PISS you off once discovered after paying

Posted by Tiger777 on Mar-12-2003 17:26:

specs are important... but, they have to play nice too, you've got a point there
