SAE Amsterdam...

Hi, Holland TA's! I'm a Florida TA looking for a decent place to go to school for music. Well, being that the US SUCKS in the area of music, I will, as I expected, be forced to go overseas.

In my search for production schools I found the SAE Institute. Apparently this institue has campuses all over the world, from New York to Berlin, including 2 in Holland.

They have a special price for US kids to go to school there, $17,000 for the school, accomidations, the flight over, and my visa. The price of the same school in Miami is almost $13,000 for enrollment alone. So this seems like a pretty damn good deal to me, and more importnatly, my parents! Not to mention the Miami school has a music production program, but the campus in Amsterdam has it's own ELECTRONIC Music Production program. Friggin perfect The price is less than half the cost of the school I was previously looking at, and that school was in Orlando, FL.

I just wanted to know if any of you have heard of the SAE Institute, and if so, if you have any comments on it. I need to get out of the US for music reasons, and I need to get into school so Bush doesn't end up drafting my ass. This seems like the perfect chance.

Yeah i know the education, I almost enrolled in Rotterdam. This school is really cool, the school is packed with apple PC�s, drumcomputers, sequencers. And they have a big protools mixer what is really awesome. But you have to consider, that the education isn�t a real education. IT is a very very very big course not a real education like lawschool or something like that. You can achieve a master or bachelor degree. But than you have to finish 3 or 4 years.

Well, I'm interested in the school because music is what I want to do with my life. Whether its Trance or friggin television commercial music, it's music. I want to go to this school to further my knowlage, but if I have to go to music school for 3 or 4 years, its better than going to a "real school" as you call it for longer and doing something I don't like. It's really "cool" and all, but I'm not interested in the "cool" factor, I'm more interested in whether or not I'll get the education I'll need for my music at this place. Not to mention Amsterdam...

if you want to be a producer or a studio engineer and you want to have a practical education. this is the education you should go to. and amsterdam is a great city. the education isn�t that though so you have enough time to explore amsterdam and the netherlands.

But again, if you want to become a master of bachelor in music you have to finish 3 or 4 years. Only with master of bachelor your diploma is really something worth.

The reason for me going to this school is to (hopefully) be a producer. But I had a hard enough time finding a school that was less than $30,000 that even offered a certificate program in music production(much less electronic music!)

What schools offer Msters degrees in this? Do they offer doctorates? It'd be sweet as hell to be able to say I had a "Doctorate in Electronic Music Production"...HAHAHA..."Dr. Spyke!"

Anyway, dude, if you could let me know of any school that offer this, please do! I know there are none in the states(maybe Berkely, but..grrr...) But anywhere would be great!

With the SAE Audio Engineer program you can be a Bachelor Of Arts (Recording Arts) or you can get your masters and be a Tonmeister The Electronic Music Production program is just a simple course for a few months...

I am considering the very same thing after learning about the program at WMC. It is noted on the website that the Amsterdam school does not offer the bachellors diploma at this time. Tough call really, because I would love to go to school there (and who wouldn't?)

I only want to do music also- produce, engineer, remix, all of it. The school I was going to here in CA didn't have quite the education program I wanted.
