Mixing RAGE!!!!!!!!

Does anybody just have a shitty time mixing and you just fucking blow up. The same thing as when you are driving and someone cuts you off, but for mixing vinyl. I'm trying to record a new mix and if I wasn't such a perfectionist then I would be done by now. I keep fucking up and in turn I pushed over my speaker which hit the wall, which then hit my lamp, which then broke along with the lightbulb and then smack on the floor. Sometimes I just wanna say FUCKIT!

peace,

Steve

sorry.. dont happen con mi...
i used to have that w/ video games a WAY WAY WAY long time ago,
but no more
why not after you f*ck up, play Duran Duran - Relax ??

Posted by Rememberence_ on Mar-11-2003 05:08:

I can see that happening with me when I get my long awaited decks... not that I'd start destroying my own stuff, but I can relate because I'm a perfectionist too. That's not to say I'm perfect... but I just need things to be right, you know?

It's something I need to get over, which I can't see happening for many years because it's a major part of who I am, who I was brought up to be. I struggle to write english essays all the time because it's such subjective work in comparison to simple "right or wrong" mathematics... I guess that makes me more of digital person lol as opposed to an analog/artistic/outgoing person, who I'm working on becoming. *sigh* good luck!

Do you think Tiesto, Ferry, Armin, and PVD got as good as they are by breaking shit? Something to think about...........

YES!

I just had a little shit-fit, today has been a rough day for me. Everything that happened today came out in my mixing!

peace,

Steve

usually mixing calms me down!

when i am stressed from work, life, whatever.. i can always find comfort in my tables, in my vinyl even if i am not 100% on-beat that day

Posted by JohnSmith on Mar-11-2003 17:35:

Yeah, i've had days like that. I don't usally get angry enough to push over the speakers though, i just yell and scream a lot, and then turn off the decks and go sulk and watch TV.

or, i put on a mix of oakenfold and listen to how bad he mixes and it makes me feel better

Posted by webbie on Mar-11-2003 17:46:

Hey, it happens to everyone.
Some days are just worthless when it comes to mixing.
The beatmatching might be a tad slow, you bring in the following tune
too early/late, you cut the old tune off to early/late and so on.
Happens once in a while.

I just dont break things, I just gets so incredible pissed that I
turn everything off and just act like a bitch for an hour, then im
a-okay.

Altho you should be an perfectionist, no matter in finishing
off things that you yourself aren't happy with.

this has been happening to me a lot lately...although i don't throw around my gear. My mixing has sucked, often enough its because i'm not in the mood, but i try to force myself and it just doesn't work. i've been kind of tired of mixing lately, although i still by vinyl. lately i've just been into listening to my tracks.

hahahaha...funny guy

Yea..sometimes you just don't feel it...when I suck I REALLY suck and get all pissed off at myself. Sometimes I just feel it inside me and I feel like a mixing god..lol
I try not to force myself to mix if I don't want to...that way when you mix you will enjoy it rather than criticizing yourself for every mistake.

It's all good man...we all have those days before...like today!!! I sucked ballzzzz

Posted by Tony Morello on Mar-12-2003 03:43:

yea, there are some days when i couldn't mix chocolate milk with a spoon (although those are getting pretty rare these days)

i just leave it, come back to it later

i try not to mix mad
you just end up dwelling on shit and make things worse

i like to clear my mind before i mix, so i can devote all my attention to my mixes

sike naw, but seriously tho, whenever I have the feeling to hit something I just sit and think.. about all the people who don't have arms and don't have the ability to punch shit. After that I'm cooler than bob marley @420

I have managed to happilly destroy lots of things in the last 6 months. I have been in agonizing pain, dissarray and "just plain F&&&&'d around" to the point it has ruined my life.

Late Oct.02 my R/wrist started to hurt big time from work. Then using my L/wrist more Bingo.... It got sore too. Reasons 1)Really Bad new Computer prog. required at least 4 - 5 times MORE mouse movements for the SAME outcome from all previous years and it crashed all the time. 2) Overfuckingworked(employer even told WCB this)....My Work laid off 2-people prior to this, guess who did all the work??? They have hired 3 people to do my job, they can't even keep up to level I performed prior.

WCB declines my case(like I knew they would) Boss starts trash talking to everyone like I am faking it He was the biggest asshole, because he walked around ALL DAY, EVERYDAY, while I worked at a furious pace to do ALL the WORK, he even dumped shit on me, and get this asked me to stay late to finish somthing for his Boss while he still did fuqall ALL THE TIME. I was asked to resign, and laughed at them saying "resign because I medically fit to work??" "Yeah right"

- 1st suspected carpal tunnel syndrome is diagnosed now after nerve conductive tests as Tendonitis in both, more painfull than CTS
- good news it reopens(I hope) my WCB claim and allows me to disclose the fraud they tried to pull on me. What a bunch of dumbasses to try this on the Son of a Doctor.
- Bad News, Still hurts like BLOODY HELL daily and from working short days, Have not gotten a dime from WCB or my extended plan. I used to have a down payment to buy a house NOT NO MORE. In the End will lose my well paying job of 8 years. And I will be putback to sqaure one.
All and All I don't care about anything I want my FUQKING LIFE BACK, so put me back to sqaure one

Quit your pathetic whining, I almost steel toed my CPU tower onto the street, but refrained to just a minor kick. I'll wait till tomorrow when it hurts like hell then go for the field goal!!!

Mixing, especially for bedroom or amateur djs has to be a pleasure. When i have a bad day and recognize that i'm not able to mix with good quality and i am not satisfied stop to mix and start to listen only... Generally when i have no problem my mix is great! There are also people that are able to resolve their problems mixing, not i...
However if the problem is your skill and not your humor it's good to have mistakes, they are all practice...
So stay happy and good mixing!

I Just make myself a cuppa tea, clear my head.
There's nothing worst though when you start a mix cant mix the 2nd tune in!!!

A while back i nearly threw John Askew's - New Dimension like a frisbee out my bedroom window, but luckily the window was shut.
And i havnt done anything like that since.
My mixing ability is good, its just about finding the exact speed on the next record's pitch, and letting it go on the first beat, and to keep adjusting the pitch if it isnt correct.

Yeah exactly.. I had problems with that when I started mixing, until I finally worked out (uh.. yeah) that everyone has fucked up this bad.. tiesto, armin ... EVERYONE.. and look at where they got.. so instead of getting pissed off about your mistakes, learn from them.. It'll make you a better DJ ..

That never happens to me. Just like onceler, mixing is my relaxation. The only time i ever get tense is the 5 minutes before i take the decks @ a club. At home you should just chill. When you are wanting to make a promo or something, you can never pop it out in one shot. Know what tracks you are going to use, have a general idea of where it should be (tempo wise) and the only way to get it down is to practice. Who cares if you fuck up at home. No Dj is perfect. And if they are.. it is b/c the use computers to mix their sets ..... *cough cough oakenjoke cough**

On the other hand i have a buddy who owns mark almura's first set of tables (big house DJ from chicago) and he has a huge problem with rage. There are holes in the walls of his room (from his head and fists) Its funny there are about 4 holes in a row and he wrote above them. says friendship holes.... but anyway... if you get pissed... walk away. it is the only thing, if you are pissed and still mixing... you will only learn to hate mixing.
