Andain Info and Q&A

Lot's of you have questions about Andain - here's some info for you: Andain has plans for an album. In fact, they first started out writing and recording tracks for the album. Tiesto met Josh Gabriel because of "Wave 3" and really liked "Summer Calling" - which then led to a dance version by Josh Gabriel and remix by Gabriel&Dresden. Josh, Mavie and David Penner finished writing the bulk of it in Amsterdam last summer. There will also be a Josh Gabriel mix of "Beautiful Things."

Are Mavie and Penner also members of Andain?

Yes - Andain is Mavie Marcos, David Penner and Josh Gabriel.

Interesting you should ask. The dance music is trance/prog house, but I think you would agree the sound is fresh.
The album is a group with electronic feel. They all write the music together and Josh Gabriel is producing/engineering with lots of great orginal sounds and keyboards, Penner plays live acoustic guitar and bass, Mavie has written some stunning lyrics - and of course delivers beautiful vocal performances/harmonies. I think record labels are trying to figure out where to put this exciting new music -what do you think the genre is?

Bit of Trivia: Penner plays eletric guitar too on all Andain stuff but is also the guitar master in the following Gabriel & Dresden remixes:

Hey bud, are you affiliated with Gabriel and Dresden in any way? I noticed that you are in San Francisco, I am actually in the bay area too, and I've fallen in love with their music. Is there anywhere to go to meet them and chat? Like a record store they frequent or studio? I was just thinking of the possibility.

Ahhh also, a question that has been nagging at me... any thought on whether Tiesto will decide to remix "Beautiful Things?" He's had great luck in the past remixing those type of female vocal tracks (Silence, Innocente).

Hmm, has this David Penner done any other productions? More info on him would be appreciated such as other alias'. Also, more info on Mavie Marcos...she's got a beautiful voice.

OK let's see if I can answer your Q's:
- You can get Andain, Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden's bios off of their managers web site: http://www.ornadel.com.
- Penner has been in several bands and is an amazing musician - he plays the sitar, piano and saxophone too!
- I don't know if Tiesto will remix Beautiful Things. Currently slated for release are Gabriel&Dresden remix and Josh Gabriel mix
- Gabriel&Dresden will probably remix future Andain dance releases
- Josh Gabriel, Andain, Gabriel&Dresden, and Motorcycle are all recorded and produced in Josh's San Francisco studio. Attention Deficit and other Dresden collaborations are usually produced in the Los Angeles area.

I thought I'd help you out a bit and post the actual lyrics I wrote. Thanks for all your wonderful comments and for listening so closely to our music. From my heart, it means a lot to me and I know Josh and David feel the same way.

Mavie, that song is beautiful... the first time I saw the lyrics and heard the song at the same time, it made me take a look at my life and look at all those things you take for granted and appreciate them... for once, meaningful lyrics in an electronica song. I literally shed a tear when the chorus hit me, I don't care what anyone says. You have a beautiful voice, please continue making songs, you guys make a terrific team. I'm also in the Bay area near San Francisco, it'd be great to meet you guys one day, hopefully there's a day when you're not too busy... on behalf of all your fans, please continue producing beautiful music!

Yes! An extremly amazing Moving song. It makes you take a step back and look on your life, wether need for change or took look onto was has been good. Ibiza Dreams has showed me that reading the lyrics while listening to the song helps from not misconstruing the words. The melody towards the end tuggs at the heart. Thanks Andain for making beautiful music that puts the emotions we feel into words and melodies the we may not have been able to express. This way the whole world can relate and it brings people together. I know that personally trance has helped put things I could never say into music that i can share and that we are not alone in what we feel. Gabriel and Dresden: your work is truely wonderful, keep it up, we're behind you, wanting more. Mavie: I've always had the affinity for female vocal tracks but you continue my love for that, the vocals make this song even better. We all anxiously await for more. Thanks for sharing your voical talent.

A big thank you to rowanlove for answering my question in the "thank you from davedresden" thread. Great to have such openness about running projects. You don't see that very often.
