U.S. vs Iraq: Armageddon???

There was a long article in my local paper (not The Weekly World News)
today, about Bible prophecies being fulfilled.

it was really long and i'll give you the ultra short version.

The war to end all wars will take place with Babylon (which is where Iraq is now) uprising.

There are also bible references to the Euphrates river (also in Iraq)
and a war starting from there.

the article basically stated that all bible refences to the end of the world point to the middle east particularily Iraq area.

There's one other reference that refers to an invasion of locusts (??bioweapons?) led by the army of Abbadon in Hebrew, Apollyon in Greek.
Both names mean destroyer.

here's somethign i found about Saddam:

The name "Saddam Hussein" isn't like "Bill Clinton" or "Jiang Zemin", which are both composed of a given name and a family name ("Bill" and "Zemin" are the given names). Saddam Hussein has no family name. Rather "Hussein" is the name his parents gave the nascent dictator, and "Saddam" is an epithet he adopted before he grabbed power, and is derived from the Persian word meaning "crush." "Saddam Hussein" is best translated as Hussein-Who-Crushes-Obstacles or Hussein-the-Destroyer.

It's almost impossible to find an ubiased opinion on what the bible says, and means to say. I've found it hard to read an objective article.

Tranceaddict has many members, many different religions?

what does your religion say about the end of the world?>

i think these kind of prophecies always get thrown in the trash cause they happen during almost every war or other similar event - remember our ol friend Nostradamus, or the 'prophetic' Word Wingdings things?

i dunno maybe its true. i kinda doubt it tho|

Posted by halo on Mar-12-2003 19:22:

the reason for finding so many references in the Bible that point to middle east may lie in the fact that the poeple who wrote the Bible did not know any other regions of the world... not to mention China or America....

my religion says....

oh wait i dont have one

check out nostradamus prophesies too, he will probs be right like with twin towers...

Posted by davinox on Mar-12-2003 20:03:

ok.

the end of the world has been predicted sooooooooo many times. people are just going to have to face the fact that the end of the world will not come from any divine force, any apocolypic conglomerant of events, but of a swarm of nukes killing off humanity.

or maybe it will be in another 1000 years, with a space colony firing a projectile great enough to take apart earth.

BASICALLY GET A FUCKING CLUE! THE WORLD WILL NOT MAGICALLY COME TO AN END.

If a war happenes...

Yes, I believe if the war begins, it will be the end.
I can go explaining myself but no need...Just an opinion here.

well i am pretty sure u dont know..as u dont have any backup for your claim..i dont know either..u might be right but i wont go bragging just yet buddy

perhaps it is the book "the bible code"

but most prophecies derived from ancient sources are kind of irrelevant because they are brought into the light only after the a certain event has happened. like you i highly doubt your going to find a prophecy that is annouced before an event happens, but once it happens people will be like look at this ancient prophecy and just link it that way.

The end? WTF? You're reading too much into this war. Many lives will be lost, but there are just too many different types of life on this Earth for Earth to become lifeless. Plus, who knows if some life will survive amidst a cloud of nuclear dust in the atmosphere? After all, no one knew that on the floor of the ocean, some organisms can live off sulphur deposits or whatever else gasses exist down there.

This wouldnt be the first time iraq has gotten into a conflict. And this isnt the first time fanatics have cried wolf about the end of the world. Look at all those crazy cults, or y2k doomsday religions. Or the countless times those televangelists have called it. And if my limited knowledge of the christian religion is correct, the end of the world = jesus returning, and noone will have the slightest clue of when that will go down.

So I wouldnt sweat it

I realy dont care if the world ends.

If it does, i'll have a reason to go to school naked.

if it doesn't, i'll just be like 'meh, more boring life' and my favorite music genre will get cheesier and cheesier.

As I said somewhere else, the universe might be created by a giant invisible pink unicorn, and you can't prove me wrong either. But logic dictates that a chance for universe coming to a magical end is very very unlikely.

Holy Trinity

Well if religion and the bible predicted that the world was first created in 8000 BC or something like that, I'm not gonna place much faith in when they predict the world is going to end

I hope I am misunderstanding you but do you think the world has been around for roughly 10,000 years? I mean shit, scientist found a human skull in Africa that dated 6-7 million years ago.

But as for the topic at hand. Armageddon... well maybe. I am concerned about North Korea though. It seems like every week they threaten to nuke something. When the war in Iraq starts N/K will probably start shit and they will nuke. Then the Americans will nuke. It sure as hell won't be pretty.

As for religion, well western religion, they say that the Earth is the center of the universe and that Adam and Eve stuff. Basically most the stuff in the Bible has been proven wrong. I am not sure that I buy it.

Peace

Dancing Dude

there is no possible way, a war with iraq will destroy the world and here are the resons:
1. Iraq probably does have weapons of mass destruction and might even have or be close to nuclear capablility but there is no way in hell iraq has even a fraction of nuclear capability as the usa does. With that said, the US is the closest there is to having the power to radically effect the world, so how in the hell can a conflict in iraq cause the end

2. The only way for any type of end would be if the US, Russia, and China simultaneously launch their entire arseanal to every pieace of land on our plannet as well as the atmosphere. And if you think that is a possibility u are lost in life. No one has anythign to gain with destroying any part of the plannet, if the us destroys Europe, or asia its economy is dead and so are they because or retaliation.

this is why there will be no end of the world because of thsi conflict, it will jsut result in Sadam getting a cruse missle shoved up his ass.

the only way the world will end, in the near future is if aliens blow us up, lol. or trance ceases to exist
