King advice on changin hair colour

how much would it be to bleach my hair blonde?
ive got black hair and im just sick of it, i cant have it blue or anything cuz it just wont show up, atm im dying it red, but all i got is red scalp plus red highlights, not working!

ps i heard it stings to have hair bleached?

you have to use some sort of bleach to remove the pigment from your hair if you want to get it to hold another color. you can probbly find a friend to do it for you though i wouldn't fuck with my hair like that. my ex gets his hair died and it usually costs about $70 from what i understand.

It hurts like hell

it only stings if u get it on ur skin. use gloves to apply the bleach, any plastic bag type glove works. if u have really dark hair, like asian jet black, feel free to leave it on for a long time. if u want to dye ur hair a different color other then blond, make sure after the bleach the hair is as white-blonde as possible for the best effect. i left mine for around 2 hrs and it still wasn't enuff. BUT i wouldn't recommend going over that mark. if u just want blonde hair, 45 min - 1 hr should be enuff.

when applying the bleach, it's easier to get a friend to do it for u and make sure to get as close to the roots as possible.

Oh, it only costs like 15 US dollars for bleach, and another 10 for color dye. much cheaper then going to a salon.

my two cents.

it doesnt burn that bad if you do it yourself, just make sure you get all your hair

your g/f prolly got it for $70 cause she has long hair.

the guy who said that it takes 45-1hr for it turn blonde is absolutely right. thats why it pays to do it in a hair dresser and go under the heater. that way it takes like 15-20 mins.

it cost me $35 with a cut (my hair is normal guy length) and took about 20 mins to get pretty white (my hair is normally light brown). bear in mind i got my hair streaked, not dyed.

if you want to get a bright colour such as blue or red.. bleach your whole head, then ask the hair dresser to lightly streak your head (colour) if you want to have a blonde/(colour) head.. or you can just get them to dye the whole thing (colour) after you bleach it.. but IMO it looks pretty bad when it's all one colour..

the best is when you dye your whole head light light blonde then do the tips blue.. thats what im doing in the summer.. it's just that in the winter if you bleach your whole head.. you get HELLA dandruff..

my teammates dye hair once a year before our big tournament. it doesn't really hurt, it's more like a light burning sensation on your scalp, depending on how long you leave it in for.

took me like 15 minutes to get my whole head absolutely white, but my hair's pretty thin + it was like " long. and it took >45 mins for an asian kid to get bleached, and he did complain about burning.

and it's pretty cheap too.

one thing, though - i HAD to use conditioner afterwards (i usually shampoo my head only), to keep my hair shiny, soft, and smooth. plus i had dandruff for the first few days after shampooing, cuz the bleach burns the scalp, and all

Don't bleach your hair, you'll be going bald by the time your 23...If i were you, use those hair colour things they have rather than bleaching..

Though they both burn the roots of the hair, bleach kills it more cause it is stronger.

well, if you bleach it once or twice, i really doubt you'll go bald...

but don't do what my sister used to do - bleach her long hair about twice a months.

bleach does get into the roots and burns them, thus the hair loses is shininess / whatever (that's why i had to use the conditioner, cuz it wasn't smooth at all)

You're probably looking for something more dramatic/noticeable than this, but I suggest you put some nice hilites in your hair, instead of colouring your whole head. I just got some copper-ish hilites in my hair not even a week ago and I really like them. I've got black hair as well. 'Tis merely a suggestion, but it worked for me.
I'm damn glad I got my hair cut though. Last time I got a quote from my hairdresser it would've cost me 3 bills for foil hilites... (It was quite long though.)

I bleached my hair a few years back.

Didnt hurt that much, and I got some hair bleach from a drug store for like $15 (canadian). Turned out nice and yellow.

ok this is the only guy with a clue..... I dont get where you guys are saying it hurts wtf are you talking about.........Oh and do not let your friends do it you may end up orange...due too something in your tap water or what ever your using.. I have bleached/colored my hair prolly 50 times over the years....colors from pink to a green that glows under a black light and my hair is as healthy as always each time it has costed me around 35 with a haircut...but that depends on where you live...oh and another thing about color...Even the perma hair dyes eventialy wash out the colors that last the best is red but it normaly turns pink after a few weeks of washing....Good luck to ya...

yeah but he had the salon do it, he doesn't do it himself. i suppose that isn't the average cost - it might be because he gets his hair done in midtown manhattan (which can be a bit overpriced.)

thats fuckin sick dude.. where did you get that stuff?

Posted by DJScottKeith on Mar-14-2003 20:49:

I have dark brown hair and highlight/bleach it all the time, I buy this stuff at the store ($7.00) and it is a bottle of crystals and a bottle of this liquid. Mix them together, put it in your hair, wait about 45 min and presto.

If your hair is that dark you will have to bleach all the color out and then color it what you want.

Use a good shampoo & conditioner so you dont screw your hair up for a while after you bleach it.

Post the pics!

he he... I love the way you express yourself m8...very effective !!!
For few seconds I guess I really felt what you ment DEEP inside me

By the way does anyone know the chemical components of bleach??? I'm really curious about that. I fact I know nothing about it but this summer I'll probaBLY die my hair so I'll be very happy to know what I'll be doing to my hair...

Also... what happens when you die your hair without bleach??? I mean just apply yhe paint???

Posted by fr0st on Mar-14-2003 21:08:

Ok for bleach its actually hyrdrogen peroxide(i think)... As for the cool glow under the black light colors i was talking about here they are a lot of salon supply places have this brand i have found it to be the best the more expensive colors realy dont seem to hold well....and at most porfessional salons they actually mix a custom haircolor for you they dont just toss premade stuff in your hair....but for crazy colors they cant realy effectively do that....anyway heres a link http://www.manicpanic.biz/ct_CG13931614.htm

As far as I know, the colour simply won't even be able to grab a hold of your hair and stay on there. So I don't think that it (the colour) will look very weak or faded, but rather that it won't even appear at all.

Invisible Grin

my opinion...if you dont know what your doing get it done professionally... especially if your doing such a dramatic change.

yea at this party some of my friends put that on ther hair
and it looked like crap
running down on the forehead and shit

no wonder they got no girls that night

Posted by Stphanie on Mar-15-2003 07:54:

1 st. Red is the hardest color to get rid of.
2 nd. Definitly go see a professionnel cause if you do it wrong your hair can fall out...
3 rd. Yeah it burns! But it wont kill you.
4 th. Make sure it doesnt look like your dog pissed on your head!!!! cause i've seen ppl with that and it looks awful!
And finaly, the cost depends on the lenth of your hair, but its pretty expensive so be sure that you wont regret it!
