two requests with one sample (an old trance classic)

Okay, one will be easy and the other pretty difficult
This is a sample from PVDs politics of dancing. Right before U2 - Elevation started, he put in a phat bass with break beat, but before the phat bass, there is a piano sample. He used the piano sample a few times during the song U2 - Elevation (pvd remix)

Okay two things im requesting:
1. That piano sample at the first three seconds of the sample. I know ive heard it in an old trance song... played maybe in 99 (at the clubs a lot), maybe in 98
Now about the piano sample.. in the trance song im talking about, it starts with that same sample, but then progresses into something just beautiful throughout the song, and its only piano in the beginning and then progresses with a bass drum and more piano, but still repeats the same melody throughout.. Only the true trance pioneers should remember the name of the track *i hope someone does.

2. Secondly, that bassline... it sounds like some progressive house bassline gotten from a popular song.

i my highest priority is figuring the piano song, i can believe i dont know the name of that song

thanks,
ricky

That piano stab sounds sort of like Bethoven's Fur Elise.

Its not bethovens fur elise, or at least the song that im talking about. the song that im talking about sounds a bit similar, but less piano notes envolved.
thanks for suggestion though

anyone else?

Ok, how about:

The Elements -- Symphony of Life(Cut up)

Posted by DJ Tranz on Mar-15-2003 14:42:

could you also possibly be referring to Robert Miles -- "Children"?

Posted by bachatu on Mar-15-2003 22:35:

okay i cant find that track beautiful life anywhere and it is not children by robert miles...
anyhow.. its funny that you mentioned robert miles - children... i was at work and heard children and the piano reminded me just a tad bit of the song. THe main difference is that the song im talking about never really had any euphoric elements... it was pretty simple, just a piano, bass drum, then it built up with bass drum, bassline and piano.
any other suggestions?

hey,

im sorry to say i think i the piano segment of the sample you posted to me sounds like guitar. does the song you're talking about have the same exact dittle between notes as the sample you provided? im gonna place my bet on nalin and kane - open your eyes. im listening to it right now and it basically fits your exant description. check it out! as for the bassline, sounds like something moby or fatboy slim would throw down ad part of a track.

best of luck

unfortunately, no, its not open your eyes. Its more uplifting with the piano segment and no synths envolved, just piano with bass drum. Again, this tune was around 99-00. But thanks anyway

Anyone else?

Hmmm, a trance track that starts out with an uplifting piano...

BT - Flaming June
DJ Dado (he's got a few that could fit...)
Moby - Everytime You Touch Me

Am I going to far back in time yet?

Hmmm, there's a few others that sort of fit what you're looking for that I can think of (but they're not really pianos):
Three Drive on a Vinyl - Greece 2000
Binary Finary - 1998
Cygnus X - Superstrings
Paul van Dyk - Another Way

I know that's a lot of tracks and some of them are probably way off from what you're looking for... Honestly, I'm not really expecting to be right with my guesses, but if you could tell us which song it's closest to, it would help. Also, do you happen to remember anything else about the song? Were there vocals (male or female if it has any)? What DJs played it? Was it straight trance or were there breaks? Any additional info. would be helpful 'cuz there were a lot of uplifting trance tracks around that time that started out with minimal instrumentals and built up into a full out tune...

k,
It wasnt:
Three Drive on a Vinyl - Greece 2000 nothing alike
Binary Finary - 1998 nothing alike
Cygnus X - Superstrings .... nothing alike
Paul van Dyk - Another Way .... nothing alike
Ive heard all of them, I dont dont have to relisten to tell...
Also, its not BT-flaming june ...nothing alike
I dont know about DJ DADO, i coudlnt find anything on him or her.
The moby track.... maybe it has the piano in common (complete different melody), but that is it... much too fast and too many other elements that (like synths) that are not included in the track im hunting for.

Yeah, most of the songs are really off. To be honest, none of them sound somewhat familiar to the tune im talking about. NOw, if you take another look at the sample song i posted (u2 - elevation (pvd remix)), that does have the piano that is played almost exactly at the start of the melody of the tune im looking for. In addition, the actual tunning of the piano sounds identical from what i remember, it seems as if pvd just ripped that piano directly from the track that im talking about, but he only took the opening part and relooped it.

What djs played this tune im talking about? I dont remember tiesto spinning it in his 99 or 00 sets, or ferry or anything like that. It was more like local djs in South Florida Clubs.
One note I want to make, and something that I want to make clear... this song does not have the typical trance sound or synths in it, as the piano it self seemed to be "RAW" and not enhanced much or synthesized at all, nor did it include any synths... it was just a piano melody with bass drum throughout.

Best description i can give would be to listen to the sample i enclosed and listen to the piano sample, as it seemed to be a rip from the song im talking about (but its not the complete piano melody, only small piece)

The DJ Dado song that I think is most like it is the "X-Files Theme" and it's actually the one that I thought was closest to what you were looking for (it feels somewhat similar to Robert Miles - Children, has piano, but it's not very close on other aspects)

However, based on your reply, my best guess is:
Humate - Love Stimulation [Paul van Dyk Love Clubmix]

next would be:
Vangelis - Bladerunner Extended Radio Mix

beyond those two, the rest are a bit of a long shot but seem to fit somewhat:
Liquid - Liquid is Liquid (piano seems right, but the track is from 1992)
Adam Dived - Deep Inside (piano sounds quite similar, but there's lots of synths in the track and the piano doesn't seem to be highlighted enough)
Gus Gus - Purple (it's a synth but feels very similar)
Orb - Little Fluffy Clouds (long shot, you'd probably remember if it was this one)

Update
Subfuze, there has been some progress! I still have not found the right track, but at least i found something a tiny bit similar.
ITs actually from DJ DADO... its Metropolis (club mix)
THe bassline did not ring a bell, but when dado- metropolis hit the break, it reminded me a bit of the track im hunting for.
Now, i cant tell you that the track is from 94 or anything, as i remember it being from 1998-00 era, so hope that helps.

greetz,
rick
