houston blows and anyone from there will admit it..dallas is better but not by much. austin is THE place to party in Texas.

-Clubs, forget it. The closes thing to a good club which brought in the DJs, we called Hyperia, was closed not long ago.

-Parties. Forget it. Its gone downhill the past two years. Nothign going on really. Only thing that is worth anything is Andy C at the pavillion, 4/12/03.

-Bars. There you have options.

Like excite said, this city isn't exactly the "place to be".

I do know this city like the back of my hand though, so if you got some questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Hey darlin'

I'm from Austin, but on vacation in Koekjes land ATM.
Hope you N'joy yer stay, but a 'lil advice....don't breath the air too much or for too long.

P.s. What did you want to do?? Go out to a bar/club?? Or go for a nature walk? Or do some touristy stuff??? It's been a while since I've been to Houston, but I can try to help.

I was going to say, if you like Frat parties, but then I thought about it, and I agree if you like rock music it's THE place to be! The warehouse district is great. We have some cool clubs like Emo's and Stubbs etc. But there has been a drought of good electonica here lately, from when I first got into the music.......

well, i'll be there thurs-sun. i don't think i will be able to go out much the first few days but saturday i'd like to. i definitely prefer electronic music, of any sort, including the gay scene. what is that thing about andy c at the pavillion? is that a concert space or a club? i'd much prefer a club. i don't really drink so i don't care much about a good bar scene and i will probably be going out by myself so a club venue would be better.

im assuming you mean next thur-sun

andy c is at the pavillion (concert venue :rolleyes

and you dont really drink, hmmm......

Honestly your best bet is to go downtown, and do some club hopping......maybe you'll find something you like, maybe.....I warn ya though, its all pretty much commercial and mainstream.......

p.s., stay the hell away from the Roxy (its not downtown, its in the galleria)......

best club in this town is club sport trance, bar/drinks, 15" cerwin vega sub, 7 speaker bose surround, excellent lighting and the music you love......hey you cant argue with that.....

if u got any more q's, dont hesitate to ask

ooh very helpful, thanks... it isn't that i want to go someplace without a bar, i just don't want to go to a bar... i want to go somewhere where i can show up by myself and not feel funny cause i am alone.

it isn't this weekend though, it is the 10-13 April. so far, based on your advice i will try vision. i am mostly into house, beraks, techno and dnb but i'll settle for whatever kind of electronic you have there. i'd like to steer clear of the real mainstream places.

thanks you so much!

ahhh the beloved Hyperia!!! gone...

n e ways. probably should try vision.(after hours) kinda small but yet probably the best in town for trance. (downtown Chenevert st)

also been hearing things about underground lounge thought never been.(house and progressive) also downtown

well hope that helps..
adios.

Posted by SportTrance on Mar-26-2003 22:57:

yes, we do miss hyperia

My opinion is go see Andy C at the pavillion. You'll have better luck goin there, than anything else. I saw him at hyperia and he did throw down. Plus, I assume youre looking for an environment where you can possibly meet people, and have solid sound. Just remember, a party is a party, and its gone downhill over the past few years, so don't expect much, I'm sure you don't.

Downtown is kind of a gamble as far as finding anything good. I've never left downtown satisfied (besides hyperia) I wouldn't really recommend goin alone either. Its not THAT bad of an area, but, you know, you dont know the city very well, etc.

anyway, if your interested, heres the info

Hello!

hey girl. Other than Vision you may want to try Play. They are pretty much progressive and house on Fridays. My friend went and he set it was good. Supposebly one of the DJ's from Hyperia is spinnig there. Mix crowd. Vision on saturday's is good. Although mostly Asians when i went a while back. It is run by Leroy Peters ex dj of Hyperia. All around good music. Drops some goods tunes once in a while. gets the crowd going. quite small though. definetaly stay away from Roxy. PM if you need more info directions and the such.

cheers
