escalation of war into regional conflict

arright turkey is massing troops in the north and has already sent in 1000 troops to prevent the kurds there from joining the kurds already in turkey...and thousands more troops are massing at the border

meanwhile iran has also started to mass troops to counter a turkish invasion!!

so far the situation hasn't gotten out of control, but its a possibility, lets hope for the best

LOL
chill out, folks!
same happened in 1991, a few turks entering the Kurdish territory...nothing serious. If they indeed go to far they'll get the american fist on their heads

And I doubt the Persians are much a greater threat than the current Iraqi one

Hmmm... but I think that this is a slightly different scenario though.

I think that if (or when ) Iraq is fully occupied by the US, the Kurds will sense a very real opportunity to claim their stake for their own sovereign nation (something that they have longed for for a while). While after the first Gulf War, the fact that Saddam was left in power pretty much quashed their chances of "liberation", this time around I think that they may well go to some lengths to stake their claim and Turkey have already stated implicitly that they are willing to use military force to keep prevent this from happening and to keep the Kurds down.

I don't think this is something we should be overly worried about now, but it's certainly going to be worth keeping an eye on over the next couple of years. :-/
