Is It Just Me Or...

Are the mods really not active enough in this forum? Too many arguments' level is sinking (Yeah I know there's been a thread bout this) and I personally think a few warnings and suspensions would have done theirs...

All mods of this section are also mods of others section, which, in my opinion, hinders their ability to give any attention to this one.

I would much like to see a mod that is also a user of this forum, and one that our users can trust not to act upon bias of opinions... Does anyone else here think a more active moderator will do this place good?

we are talking about this in the mod forum

fact is that there are just too many morons that visit this political forum

I would also like to suggest having a forum regulations sticky in here (The "For Sale/ Wanted" forum has one so I reckon we should too), explaining that there is no personal fighting or swearing allowed, and a kind of policy (Such as, you get 3 warnings -this being the first- of incapability of holding the rules, then you will be suspended ... Multiple suspensions could lead to a permanent ban)

Blik you'd better be careful with the "moron" statement. We both know that you act in accordance with your biased view on certain subjects (the threat to ban of mike due to his Avatar only!). I won�t forget your horribly stupid statement about shlomo being a bad example for Jews, and I wont forgive you closing my thread without even asking what I meant.

I made clear why his avatar should be removed, I had several complaints about it, when I get complaints it has to be removed, always...

shlomo being a bad example, I appologised for that...

and which thread from you did I close?

with morons I mean everyone who is calling people names, shouting LIKE THIS!!! etc...

Haha Blik is right ... moderating these forums must be the biggest pain in the ass known to man. With the amount of flaming, stubborness, and silliness that goes on in these forums I bet that even if God were to moderate these forums he'd feel the urge to punch somebody every night. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy ... cept for maybe somebody like renegade *hint hint*

Still, same subjects in COR et al would be even worse. I'd recommend 3 moderators: 1 pro-israel/pro-US hardliner Jew, 1 Iraq and Palestine sympathizing Arab/muslim and one moderate wise, and as-neutral-as-possible Christian

Actually I wouldn't mind if all moderators were pro-anything-I'm-not extremists, their only Job here is to see that the content is presented in a respectful way... I personally find myself qualified and would like to be Mod but we're not even talking new modage yet so we'll let the mods decide what to do next on the Mod forum...

Okay, so I suggest some primaries to get the main candidates for the mod job. then some tv (in this case: speacial 1 on 1 threads) confrontations . then the final poll

I've been introduced to some of the more biased mods....

I've mentioned to a couple of the mods in irc, why don't you make this a more exclusive forum for now, make it like custom status, 500 posts & 6 months signed up so we get rid of the idiots who join just to post here, and then after that any individuals who cause trouble get access restricted too ?

Hehe I dunno something just doesn't ring quite right when you have a debate forum that limits those who can debate ... Although the ban thing is a good idea ... can you ban people from one specific forum?

I'm fairly sure it can be done, I've heard of ppl being banned from local forums for causing trouble, so maybe that could be implemented further, but I'm not 100% sure.

The problem as I see it is most threads are turned into israel vs arabic countries natives/ex pats, and it's pretty stupid, they're making themselves look bad, by not debating but trying to outdo each others stupidity

Hell I'll agree with that. It's gotten to the point where I skip over something if it has too many capitals or is less than 5 lines long.

Agree with above posts, I've wanted to deal out quite a few warnings and bans around here, I'm convinced they'll do their work.

i'd love to shut down and erase many of JohnSmith's, ahlamalek's, Renegade's, PeacefulWarrior's(btw. such thing dont exist) posts when i dont agree with their views

Very much agreed, one thing I'd like to see done by the mods is keeping threads on topic (i.e. away from Israel/Palestine or USA/Iraq unless the thread is specifically about those conflicts).

I'd do it if I were asked, but I don't think I'd necessarily be the best choice for the job.

I pretty much agree BUT there have been cases when the off-topic was actually far more interesting than the actual topic of the thread: I remember the recent discussion of obedience in the third reich (the psychology of mass murderers) in a topic which, i think, was about palestine/israel. Then there was a topic which got all philosophical dealing with the question of "Is there absolute truth?". Etc. etc...
So we've got a thing line even in the off-topic area: some might be constructive, some's just brainless flaming

Hmm, I don't think it's such a smart idea. There are many users who have been posting on the other forums for quite a while and then come here and talk crap (tiesto14). Besides, I'm registered for less than 6 months .

Agree with those. occrider might be suitable as well, although he seems to think being a mod is not very rewarding.

Hrmm i think since the main topic in political disussion deals with iraq it would be nice to have someone with an arabic background or perhaps even iraqi to moderate as well

It would only be fair just to create some equality
