I have a Tascam X-9, but I'm looking for something with...
Less bells and whistles. I don't feel like spending anything over $1000 on a new mixer. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Here is what I am looking for:
- 3 to 4 channel mixer (maybe more, doesn't really matter to me)
- Automatic Beat detection (not a necessity, but a definite plus)
- Low, mid, and hi EQ with trim knob
- Kill switches for low, mid, and hi
- Possibility to hook up an effect processor
- Booth out for recording
- Very good sound quality
- All knobs and faders have a "smooth glide" to them
This is what I am NOT looking for:
- Any effects on it
- Sampler
- Any other pointless bells and whistles
The type of music I spin ranges from Trance, Progressive, NRG, Hard House, and House. I like leaving my options open, so I'm looking for an all around kick-a$$ mixer.
All help is definately appreciated. Plus, if someone is looking to purchase a Tascam X-9 that's been used only at home in a smoke free environment for 5 months now, please let me know and we can work something out

a vestax PCV275 has all of that, except a booth output.
it does however have two sets of output, one RCA and one 1/4" TRS. this works well for sending one signal to the amp, and one to your recording source. there is no seperate volume control, but if you want it louder then just turn up the volume on the amp.
this is an excellent mixer, a lot of TA's have one and it has served them well.
oh, and it doesn't have a beatcounter either, but i think they are pretty useless anyway.

I would get an Allen & Heath Xone-32 (or 62 if you want even more cool shit)
I know you said you don't want effects, but this mixer has everything else you said and is better (and more $) then the Vestax PVC-275 mentioned above.
I guess the other option is some cool Rane mixer. The Empath looks pretty cool.

It may be a tad bit out of your price range
Allen & Heath XONE V6 High Grade Pro Dj Mixer w/ Rotary Knobs
$4,799.95
in all seriousness I'd suggest a Rane mixer....all quality
Rane mp24z club mixer
$979.95
I say go for the A&H it doesn't have the bells and whistle. I had a Tascam X-9 and didn't like it.
Okay it looks like right now it is a tossup between the A&H Xone 62 and the Rane mp24z mixer.
Now, the question is, where can I get either of these in the US?
Thanks again for your help guys.
