how many tracks will three gb hold?

Posted by JdDark on May-27-2001 20:14:

a lot, let's say a track is about 8 meg big, so 1 gb is 125 tracks times 3 = 375 tracks, and that's a lot

Posted by TeKnoHe@d2025 on May-27-2001 20:18:

Yeah, My Play is really nice since u can store 3 gigs of music there.

Posted by Fatboy on May-27-2001 20:38:

Lol, it would be perfect if u could have direct links and infinite user logons
Me=dreaming..

Peace

heheh i mean myplay's already being abused... that would just be nuts. lol. they'd prolly get sued by metallica too. haha.

Posted by Utopia1278 on May-27-2001 21:44:

stupid question..bare with me...does this free up space on your hard drive?

Posted by Linx_da_cat on May-27-2001 21:46:

nope. it only copies the song onto myplay. if you want you could just delete the song off your HD manually aftewards i guess.

Posted by Utopia1278 on May-27-2001 21:49:

right, so if napster is taking up most of my drive, i can just delete it once i copy to the locker? how secure is this my play! is it going to last! and what are the chances of me losing my files

Posted by Linx_da_cat on May-27-2001 21:52:

the chances of losing your locker aren't that high as long as you don't spam your locker around telling people to upload stuff to there. just keep it private. sign up for more than one locker for the more public ones if you like. myplay is really good imo.

Posted by Utopia1278 on May-27-2001 21:56:

thanks lynx, your on it! hey are you getting close to graduating? because hallmark is hiring like a mofo! maybe u should get hooked up there! great job and bennys!

Posted by Linx_da_cat on May-27-2001 21:58:

hehe. hallmark? hehehehe. naw man, i'm graduating next year. but i'm aight! i have a design job with one of the larger design firms out there so it's all good. anyway, i'd still back up my mp3s on cd if i were you. you can fit like a 100 or so trance trackz on there nayway.

Posted by Utopia1278 on May-27-2001 22:10:

on a cd? 100 tracks?

Posted by Linx_da_cat on May-27-2001 22:31:

naw not 'tracks'. just mp3s. like a data cd.

Posted by Utopia1278 on May-27-2001 22:35:

k..makes sense! no i just need to make sure i dont get jacked or lose those

Posted by Linx_da_cat on May-27-2001 22:37:

yeah that's why you should always have a backup. good to have more than a few backups if you really want to hold on to them.

I've had terrible problems trying to upload my tunes. With my 56k it takes ages, but when it is uploading the screen that says "This Page Cannot Be Displayed...Click The Refresh Button Or try again later" comes up and when I click the refresh button, it just says "Connecting To Server". Are there any other alternitives to Myplay that this waon't happen or any ways around this?

Posted by Linx_da_cat on May-27-2001 22:56:

paul,

that's weird. i've had that a couple of times too but it always eventually connects and starts to upload...hmm....weird....have ya just let it sit there for a few minutes? maybe it'll connect then. it might take some more time because of a slower connection.

Posted by DJ Sarah H on May-27-2001 23:04:

And you are not the only one's
Red and I are on broadband and we have also been getting those errors
We belive it's to stop too many ppl being active in a locker at any one time
Myplay knows that ppl share those lockers and some of those lockers get lost cos ppl forget to log out useing the SIGN OUT Tab
so we think that they now have some sort of time limit u can stay in there for

Not 100% on this cos one of the ideas of the lockers is that you can stream your stuff to be able to listen to it anywhere

maybe it detects if you are downloading / uploading or streaming

but anyway like i said you are not the only one's having those probs

Posted by Utopia1278 on May-27-2001 23:49:

lynx, hopefully you will come to this thread..can u upload mp3s on brinkster the same way i uploaded my pic?

Posted by Linx_da_cat on May-28-2001 00:01:

perhaps...does brinkster have any upload file size limit? i know geocities is 5 mb. so yeah, i don't see why not. give it a shot.
