Experiment: trance in public places
what if you were out in a public place, but not listening to trance in your headphones...like you had a portable stereo?
like, in a perfect experiment, i would like to find a park somewhere that is in a big city (if its in the suburbs it wouldnt really work because there wouldnt be a steady stream of people to effect.)
in this experiment, i and a couple other djs would get a folding table, decks and a mixer, some (preferably loud) portable stereo, and find an outlet in the park to plug it all into. (there usually are a few in parks for maintenence purposes) me and any other djs would take turns spinning, and the djs not actully spinning would be dancing/glowsticking/etc by the speakers...
i would like to see what response it would get from the general public...would there be random people that start to dance too? would there be other djs showing up asking to spin?
what do you think about something like this? are there any tranceaddicts in or around chicago(or in any other city) that would be willing to try this?
Security guards in the mall don't like it much.
I did.
Some ginos pretended to, and asked if i had any ian van dahl...and i told them to go fuck themeselves.
And i cranked my Hardwick set until i got banned for 3 days from the mall
*i just played it from the stereo. i've been tempted to get some decks, and just have a random rave type thing too...but i lack $ / ambition to do so.*

Wouldn't this be similar to what break-dancers do?
this past summer i went to the beach with my friend....we brought little speakers to hook up to her discman and played trance all day long. it was a really crowded beach but no one seemed to care...in fact, i think people liked it- it was really relaxing!!
i've got kicked off the city buss for that one time.
when is this going to happen in chicago? Beacuse I'm at school right now at SIU, I'll be getting back to chicago though May 10th for the summer. This sounds like a really cool idea
I played a friend's acid techno mixtape on a stereo at costco
got a few stares etc. but didn't get kicked out :P
pussies, last summer me and trancedfarmer and inatrance set up a moderate sized system in a park with amps and everything just completely spontaneous, it was right outside a movie theater so a lot of people where walking by, a lot of people where like what are you doing?? but it was fun. we had a crowd until a cop drove by with his siren on and scared everyone away, I dont know why though, the cop wasnt for us. You could id the songs from about 200m away to give you an idea of how load it was.we did it for about three hours it was so fun I recommend you try it

LOL i would love to plan a party like this but everyone is like ok ill come.. but not one wants to help out... tsk tsk tsk.. selfish!
im in a suburb south of chicago but i dont have a deck nor vinyls
grrr
Haha cool idea. Go to it in the South Bronx or Brooklyn or somethin...

2 notes:
1. keep the ideas and stories of your own experiences comin
2. Im gunna re-post this in the "Chicago/Detroit/ N. Central USA" forum as an actual meet up idea/plan...this thread was more of a hypothetical kinda thing. so any chicago TAs that wanna participate, see the chicago/etc/etc forum...
lol what an awesome idea ... kinda like the 'out of the blue' video, but...with alot more put into it.
closest i've had to something like that was at the beach, pumping music in the car =( doesn't really count tho, plus it was at nite.. on the other hand, the liteshows were kool >_<
