dj shadow spins what i'd call underground hiphop. before you go screaming missy elliot and j-lo its not like that. he's a incredible artist, dj and turntablist and you should check him out of you have the chance.

some tracks u might want to checkout of his
DJ Shadow - Organ Donar
DJ Shadow - Fixed Income
DJ Shadow - Walkie Talkie
DJ Shadow - Mongrel/Meets His Maker (this was on gu23, james lavelle)
DJ Shadow - You Cant Go Home Again

the sampling GOD as far as im concerned

Very true Sektile. Shadow is very good. I loved his stuff when I was more into it about a few years ago. Even have an Unkle album lying around somewhere. It's really good. Yes for sampling he IS undisputed.

d/l his uncle essential mix from 2002
and the rob dougan album is pretty similar
and yes dj shadow=the sample god
there is a movie called scratch that shows a lot about his music
they show a guy in usa that has a HUGE basement (huge like a football field) filled with records and he lets only dj shadow go in there....and shadow's last album was pretty much sampled from that

Try RJD2, his album 'Dead Ringer' came out last yr. I can't recommend it personally as I haven't heard it yet , but supposedly he deserves all the accolades he's getting recently.

Also check out DJ Z-Trip...WoW The way he samples hip hop and classick rock just blows me away, He's just in a league of his own. Very fun and the creativity is bonkerz. He's coming out with an album this summer, in an interview he said incorporated 450+ samples into it.

I would definitely suggest you see these fellaz live. I've seen Z-Trip and Shadow, itz just something else to witness, especially when you see Shadow battle a drummer with his scratching

yeah haven't seen the flick yet, but heard itz nuts. about the basement with all the records, I think it was part of a record store in Northern California that Shadow used to frequent back in the day, if itz the one where they interview Shadow in. Sadly, I heard that itz since gone out of business
