Michael Woods feat. Imogen Bailey - If You Want Me

quote:

The release of If U Want Me will no longer go under the Warrior name due to the current Iraq crisis. It is set for release on May 12th.

Interesting that they have done this. I dont think warrior would directly link to the war in iraq, but i guess its good of them to do it anyway.

i always thought of warrior being linked to native american warriors. if you want me has a native american tribal dance feel to it. i cant explain it.

What The? Feat Imogen Bailey? As in that 'model-who-was-on-Celebraty Big-Brother' Imogen Bailey?? Down here in Ozland?

Posted by MindShifter on Mar-29-2003 20:18:

Thats odd!?!?!! The situation in iraq is quite possibly the last thing to come to mind when I think of trance, much less this track

Posted by wookieslut on Mar-29-2003 20:31:

ok her website ( http://www.imogenbailey.com/ ) claims HER new single "tops the Cool Cuts chart in the UK

#1 on Cool Cuts!

New at #3 in the Buzz Chart!"

and theres these dj reactions too :
"'Been caning it, works well' Scott Bond
'What A Bomb!' Ferry Corsten
'Absolutely brilliant' Armin
'An absolute gem' Mark Sherry, West FM
'Fantastic crowd reactions' Eddie Halliwell, Gatecrasher
'Wicked, in box and hammering' AJ Gibson, Godskitchen "

yea....ummm i think those reactions were before your vocals hit the song, imogen. pisses me off how she is on the front cover of the vinyl too...

its like ian van dahl with those three chicks posing as the supposed artists but this is worse cause michael woods is awesome.

Posted by bassaholix on Mar-29-2003 21:07:

Yeap thats her.. she's bitchin hot.. but unfortunately.. that pic doesn't do her any good... she looks like a real yuppy! lol

Posted by torontotrance on Mar-29-2003 21:17:

a vocal mix?

I liked the mix without a vocal.....tho she is HOT!.

Bugger to the official titles.

I shall forever call it "Warrior - Drama".

absolutely

and lol at her calling it her tune, the production was probably completed before she was considered for the vocals
i feel bad for michael, i wouldn't let her go round saying it was her tune

mine is still called warrior - untitled
guess i should update it (the title that is)

vocals are horrible.
cover is horrible.
incentive is a shite label.

it all makes sense.

am i glad i got the vocaless warrior version - fcking decent.

I always laff that they release tracks 4 months after they were being played by djs.

incentive not a shite label mate, youve got some series issues if you believe that. just look at classics like these:

Matt Darey - Liberation (the label that got the ferry corsten mix)
Star Party - Im In Love
ralph fridge - angel
matt darey - beautiful
hi-gate - i can hear voices /caned and unable
orion - eternity
warrior - warrior
cj stone - infinity
freefall ft jan johnston - skydive
warrior - voodoo
hi gate - hurricane
plummet - damaged
m woods - if you want me

plus many more that arent as appealing to me. there are some dam fine releases above. so shite is not what id call incentive.

does it matter what the cover looks like?

most labels (and definately all UK labels) release tracks 1-4 months after the djs play them, its called promotion u tit. and you forget UK labels have to sign them of dutch and other countries labels which takes its time. look at monkey forest, jsut released on lost language 1 year after the original on ITWT, but it has new mixes. same with et anotehr day, still nto out here in UK, only the promos are out here now.

Incentive is a dodgy label releasing loads of cheese (Dee Dee, for instance). Sure they have some good releaes (of which i have a fair few), but only as many as say Positiva or Data. You listed a pile of incentive releases there, but most arent exactly classics are they, they havent even released as many good tracks as Positiva- and plummet damage is coming out on serious not incentive.

And yes i am aware they all wait ages before releasing tracks, which is why i said i laugh at it, in so many cases by the time it comes out on full release people have lost interest in it. Incentive released a 1sided test press of if you want me months ago, and it was being cained all over the place. Now djs have stopped playing it and they have decided to give it a full release, with a dodgy front cover..... Incentive is clearly trying to turn a brilliant track into a vocaled cheesy commercial money maker.

Posted by Nell on Mar-30-2003 11:26:

serious is part of incentive it just a sublabel, like lost language it to hooj, it was meant to be comming out on incentive originally anyway (ive got the 1 track white with the incentive arrow on it). And of course they have cheese, they have to make some money to keep going. look at positiva theyve had fragma, milk inc, Lasgo, sash, barthezz, alice deejay. you can get much cheezier than that! If you look at the ratio of released of cheese to decent, positiva have a hell lot more, sinc ehtey release lots of house aswell, Incentive releases next to nothing house wise. it also just so happens incentive and positiva are owned by the same company so if ones dodgy there all dodgy, as they have the same guy upstairs. when are people goign to learn, stuff has to be commercialised if the label want to make money!? look at lightening, no cd releases, no commercialnes, now theyre gone. id rather the cheese wasnt there aswell, but it is needed.

Yep!

If they'd released it as "Warrior feat Imogen Bailey" I bet there would have been not one single complaint about the artist name.

Now, if it was "US Armed Forces feat Imogen Bailey" there may have been cause for concern

Posted by vito on Mar-30-2003 12:38:

i like incentive, they've had some good tunes, so has serious
although i didn't know they released cheese, i still have more respect for them than positiva, they ship out the cheese like its going out of fashion, but as nell said, they need that to stay afloat

in closing, nell, i like your sig

lol, but to be correct that should be Coalition Armed Forces feat Imogen Bailey

This isnt a matter of incentive releasing some cheese and some decent stuff - its a matter of incentive turning brilliant tracks into cheese. Which they ave done with this. Vocal version = shite.

Posted by joeh on Mar-30-2003 14:15:

And a last desperate stab into incentive - their vinyl pressings are right rubbish.

Posted by Nell on Mar-30-2003 14:48:

i dont collect vinyl so i cnat comment on that

as for the cheese comment, as long as the official promo or release has the instrumental on it, ill be happy.

Oh, and just for the record it was michael woods who asked bailey to sing on it.

Posted by Jesse on Mar-30-2003 19:41:

Well, I for one have the vocal version on vinyl, the vocal club mix doesn't do it for me, but the antillas remix is great! The vocals don't ruin anything, it's just a really great song.

The original mix is still the best one of the three but Imogen did a great job.
