Paul Oakenfold - Live On MTV
I know there have been threads about this already but this wasnt that bad of a broadcast MTV did, Paul Oakenfold didnt play bad tunes either. Mostly underground and the shit that you hear him play whenever he spins.. Here are some of the tunes he played
1. Lostit.com - Animal (Trance Mix)- He usually opens with this song
2. An Awsome Remix OF Moby- Southside (would like to know what it is)
3. Jan Johson - Flesh (Tiesto Remix)
4. Ruhe - Schiller (Humate Remix)
Thats all I can remember for now, any-1 know any more???? What did you think of this?
Yeah, that set had alot of underground stuff in it. I think it was pretty cool to finally hear some trance on MTV. I tried to get alot of my friends from skool to tune in and watch it too

Damm.. I cant belive this.. I been missing this on MTV, I totally forgot about that channel.. I dont even know if I heave it, since I have no time for TV, but, with Oakey spinning on MTV some of his underground stuff.... I think I will have to give MTV a chance, and Hopefully, Oakey will massively open the doors to the DJ's, and the electronic dance music.... wich peoples fave is TRANCE right now,
By the way.. you guys know that some Hard Rock cafe had a dedication for Paul Oakenfold in las vegas I think it was.. neat :-)
i agree with you liquidX, as i said in the other post horray to paul oakenfold for maybe changing MTV's ways and bringing this music to the masses through a new medium
it wounds like the hyrbrid remix of southside, but i'm not sure, can anyone verify???

, O.k., Twilo... When Skribble does spin when he has (Nothing to do with MTV), the man can fuckin spin!!! He blew up the fuckin house at Ultra, he was actually probably one of the best ones that day.. Every-1 was suprised of his set, he just showed that no matter what all people say, when he wants to he has the ability to <----- **Shrugs**, well anywayz... Paul did spin some stuff on MTV that I have never heard before, there was a couple new tracks in there "we dont get to hear the whole set just clips", so anywayz thats my input ..
when will they rerun oakie spinning on mtv...i wanna see it!!! hehe

I don't believe this crap. I saw it that night it was air'd. It was a total joke and completley produced typical mtv crap for you. Not only did they have lil airtime of him actually spinnin, they had to keep interupting it with that idiot vj and some "hyper mix" (pfftt). Then of all things the last 5-10 minutes of a 30 minute program is of some crazy mothas (that looked like they just got out of the circus) with a rap song. Definitley not worth taking the time out of your day to watch it. What-eva imo oakie is done, he should just give it up. He's only going the comercial way because thats the only place there is any money left for him. Tempest
He also played: Piledriver--Amoebassasin. I am sure you can just look at the Another World or Travelling cd for the rest of the set. I think it might have been fun but he has got to change up his sets.

Its Pete Heller's remix of Moby- Southside. He didnt play Schiller- Ruhe he played Das Glockenspiel along with Gyromancer and the breaks remix of Ascension.

I don't think he ever claimed himself the most successful dj in the world...he had been named the number 1 dj in the world by dj mag a few years in a row I believe.
And the bitch comment is out of line....it's just that we all know you hate him...you don't need to keep bashing him over and over.
Damm... then how come I dont see everyone in ( Germany, Holland, UK and wherelse ) bitching about it Twilogoddess?!?!? In germany you got VIVA TV showing some of the tunes you never thought had videos.. and there they are SHOWNED big time on tv.. as well the new channel in UK, some clubbers channel where they will go and and show all the big events.. Summer Sound System, creamfields, and all those big Events Crasher has been throwing down lately.. I wish Id be able to watch it .. wouldnt everyone like to see for instance ULTRA live through Cable TV here in America ?!?! I know many of you would love to...
SO quit that bullcrap on that Oaky shouldnt spinn.. is a sign of realizing that people here in America has to have chance to at least know some other sounds.. in many places they dont even know what trance is and are so friking ignorants.. if they like what they hear on MTV with Oakey.. then good!!!! so like this we be able to get some trance videos or something streamed.. and so finally MTV realize that they've go to move on to what the sound of this millenium is and leave the crap behind!

I don't see anything wrong with making the electronic music scene 'maintstream.' I mean, just cause the music goes mainstream doesn't mean that it's going to turn bad, actually it will probably be the other way around....Dance music is defintetely mainstream in places like the UK and that place has some great producers...I figure dance music is soon going to be big in the States and I think that's great because America is a huge music market. More money will mean more innovation, more producers, and more music (some quality / some shit but isn't that always the case?)

I feel that it is great that someone, him or anyone else has introduced Trance to mainstream america. If you say trance music here in the states, the majority of the people have no clue what it is and they think it is like one of those stop smoking tapes with music of waves crashing or birds chirping. As for Paul, I have mixed feelings, he in my opinion, is cocky and arrogant, sure he is good, but I have no respect for people who think they are too good. Is he one of the best? Arguably possible, but people who think they are god, I have no respect for. It's also supposed tobe about the music not the money. As for his skills, they are indeed very god, possibly he spins some of the same tracks a lot, but ou have to remeber that when people go to his parties or hear him spin, sometimes they are waiting the whole set for that one track that he plays that they just always get goosebumps over. My 2 cents. Peace and Respect.
Well, I know for a fact that he didnt nominate himself as the BEST and TOP Dj of the world... he did pioneer trance to the americas, wich the became big after his work ( I know some say he didny pioneer it, is true, but he is the one that lets say.. made people give the attention to it ) . And well, Oaky himself said to a US mag that what he hates about the UK is the press, they make up so much bull ... ( Muzik, MoS, Mixmag .. all Uk .. so figure ?! ) and well, in 99 overseas everyone was sweating Oakey.. so they could've make up anything to make him look big....
By the way.. he was nominated the MOST SUCCESFUL DJ, not best.. so figure why his been the most succesful ?!?!? just think about it :-)
hmmmm... P.O. is not that bad. but i dont like him at all. hehe.
he only plays few songs i like. dont know.
when i saw him @ ultra. he was great. i cant say shit about that.... but still not liking him at all. this is my point.
PvD owns everyone hehehe....
