Paul Oakenfold

Alright, Oakie here been releasing shit nowadayS! Anybody disagree?

I'm not too familiar with the whole 1990's Oakenfold being the King of the turn tables. The first album I heard by the guy was Tranceport, which I hated the first time I heard it. After giving it a second try, it blew me away. Got some of the best tracks to this day. Anyways, his second album I listened was BunkkA! Holly crap...even Darude spins better shIt.

The point is, I need a heads up on the whole Oakenfold issue! What are his BEST albumS? I gather he did some Global releases, but after listning to Bunkka, I don't want to waste my time. I'm writing this because I got a hold of his "Travelling in Asia" and its damn fine album. What are Oakenfold's best workS?

btw, Does Paul spin progressive? Any specific albums?

nothing will ever top his 1999 em's. Nuff said...end of story..no matter what he does in the future.

Idea

[don's flame retardant suit] it seems its trendy to hate on oakie cuz of his album "bunkka" a lot of people consider him a sellout, and I did too for a long time. However, his sets as of recently seem pretty class... I don't know.. oakie is pretty class if you 'overlook' bunkka, lets just hope he doesn't do anything that dumb again in the future...

Most defenitely, I mean Oakeys no sell out he just truied some new stuff. Ill admit most of Bunkka isnt my cup of tea but it isnt all bad. There are some great remixes to come from Bunkka. So I suggest you look for those as well. As for me i guess im a little bias for I am an eternal Oakey fan, and Nothing will ever top what he did in 1999.

Mix Album wise, I would go with:

Perfecto Presents Another World
and
Paul Oakenfold Live At Cream.

Live sets, I would say:

Essential Mix live in China
Essential Mix live in Ibiza '99
Live at Gatecrasher '99

didn't mean it to be bashing. Only Bunkka! Actually, I intended this as a re-birth of Oakie. I really don't know the whole "99" stardom of his. I'm judging purely by Tranceport, Bunkka, and Travelling to Asia albums. I'd like to think that I'm open minded so this suggestions are great. btw, I got to listen to Perfecto Presents Another World...and...I'm greatly dissapointed. Looking foward to EM@Ibiza and China 99'.

Are his Global U. albums worth downloading? Buying? I have a bit of a collection going, will his album deserve a honourable standing next to N. Warren, Digweed, and Deep Dish?

Perfecto Presents Another World has a lot of Amazing and classic tracks on it. Admittedly though, it's a poorly produced album. I still think the best side of Oaky I ever saw was live.

What?! I cant believe you listened to Another World and were disappointed, especially disc 2, OMG DISC 2 MAN!!. I also recommend his Homelands set, full of energy. His Havana set, a great one to pop in the player and just drive. Travelling IMO is ok, Ill admit not his best, also if you can find it his Buenos Aires set, mint!!
