-- non-smoking law in effect?
non-smoking law in effect?
was just wondering if anyone has been in any bars/lounges recently and how the nonsmoking law is affecting everything. are they upholding the law?
Well, I was in this pool place back home last saturday and usually you can barely breathe because of al the smoke, but that day it was pretty clear and no one was smoking.
Does this law apply to all of NY or just NYC?
This law goes into effect for Boston starting May 1st, dunno about others

well i have ben out in nassau county where the law has been in effect since march 1st...i go to this one bar simply b/c i know i can smoke there....the barkeepers just tell you to keep it low...
i imagine there must be a place, where one can find in NYC that is like this....
there is ways around this law...but when cops walk in and see someone smoking, i am sure a ticket will be issued, so when that happens then bars will get strict with this law...
i find this topic rather interesting from a 'freedom' position. It is your personal freedom to smoke? I mean, nobody forces a person to go to a bar, where people can smoke, hence u can decide for yourself whether or not you want to go to such a bar. As a free-market advocat, one could argue that the market has decided that smoking at bars is fine, as non-smokers do go out.
I mean the bottom line question is:
which 'right' is bigger, the right to smoke, or the right to go out and not have to deal with smoke.

I personally hate this law. to me drinking and smoking go hand in hand and last night while I was drinking, it was hard to not be able to light up and smoke.
