Pioneer CDJ 100s VS 500
ok people... I need your help here ASAP!!!
I've got this club gig coming up on tuesday, and the guy who's arranging this whole thing said that the club has a pair of Pioneer CDJ 500.....
now the thing is, I've only got to work with a pair of Pioneer CDJ 100s, and my double CD player I have at home......
now, I have to ask if there's any difference whatsoever between the CDJ 100s and the CDJ 500.......... ecxept the fact that the 500 has no effects, and you load the CD from the top instead of shoving it into a slot in the front.....
help? please?
thanx in advance

There wont be a great deal of difference at all!, ull be fine man!
Enjoy!
i rather get cdj-500 just because...cdj-100 looks odd and cheap. CDJ-500 looks somewhat professional....just my 02
My suggestion is that you go to pioneer's website (www.pioneerprodj.com) and look at the comparison sheets that they have. You can download the users manual on that site for both decks too. I have cdj-100s also, and my guess is that there isn't any major difference as far as operation goes. Top loading is about the biggest change. I think that the way you cue and stop/start and use the jog will be the same. I know the jog is a quite different on the cdj-1000, but that's another topic.
been a while, but...
Here's what comes to mind.... the 500s are not as shock/vibration resistant as the 100s - not even close, so definitely keep that in mind. Also, if I remember correctly, the jog dial on the 100 is a bit 'lighter' than the 500, so there will be a bit of a difference when pitch bending. As stated earlier, the 500 lacks effects, but it does have looping....if you haven't played with seamless looping before, give it a shot...this is a really powerful tool.
Let us know how it goes...

LOL!!!! omg!!!!
I just spoke with the guy who's arranging the party.... I was gonna tell him that I can handle the 500 and even the 1000 (in CD player mode, not vinyl mode)... and what does he tell me?
that they will probably replace the CD players in both rooms in the club, with 100s!!!!!! lol!!!
now that's a relief!!!
Just to warn you, the CDJ-1000 is much much different than the 100 or 500. There are about a dozen or more new buttons, the jog wheel is totally different and the cueing mechanism is slightly different too. I would make sure that you have actually used one before I said that you could handle yourself on it!

Oh well
I don't know exactly if it's the same in cd-mode, but either way at least know where the button to change it to cd-mode is, and how to tell which mode you have selected. I know that the vinyl mode is touch sensitive, and so it makes it a lot harder to mix without real vinyl below your fingertips.

uh.......
anyone??

go to Pioneer's website
And manually navigate to the product documentation. It's really that simple. All the manuals are available online in .pdf format.
ok first of all, I must say the party was a blast!!! I did great!!
I worked on 2 CDJ 500s, and a crappy Rodec mixer...
the CDJ 500s is an awsome CD player, but where I played, the left one was a little crappy (the play/pause button was hard to press, it didn't hold the cue point for a long time, and every few minutes I had to re-cue, and once it didn't eject the CD and I had to actually plug it out of the electricity and back in.... I wonder what happened to the poor thing).........
overall everything went fine. the controls on the 500 are exactly like on the 100 (with no effects).
thanx for your help, guys!
