Speakers and Audio systems!

Well i;ve had an argument with a coupla friends yesterday on good speakers and sound setup.
I was almost sure that 1 of the best ways to go is Klipsch.Ur gonna give loads of money, but all for good and with no regret!
They said that Bang & Olufsen rule and that should not be questioned.
Bang & Olufsen?!?
could they be right? anyone with experience on them/knowledge on the subject?
all opinions widely accepted

depends what setup you're talking about dude...

home? car? club?

edit:

anyway, the rule of thumb for home audio is, Canadians make the best speakers, Americans make the best amps, and Japanese make the best receivers (and TVs)...

Klipsch Rock. Just ask DJ Jade:

I've personally never heard Bang and Olufsen, although i hear they are very good.

Bose makes AWESOME speakers, i can tell you from experience.

among the "consumer level" ones, Cerwin Vega and JBL are probably the best sounding.

I have Klipsch ProMedia 5.1's hooked up to my computer and I use them for DVD and music. They're excellent speakers and I don't have any regrets since I've bought them.

Bose has the best sound IMO, but they're expensive as hell. It's amazing some of the sound that even their smallest of speakers can put out

B&O speakers are for home theater system and usually they come in a system not sold separtely for speakers. Yes they r badass but not for DJing i dont think.. they can handle the deep bass for DJing. but ya for home theater THEY R BADASS! and if you are willing to pay 6000+ for it^^

so you r happy with it... hmmm....

I have been looking for a good speaker system for dvd,mp3 etc...

I'm gonna buy either logitech or klipsch... logitech has very postive reviews...
but I just can't decide... don't wanna waste my 200-250 $

Posted by JohnSmith on Apr-03-2003 23:37:

go with Klipsch over logitech for sure!

Posted by bassaholix on Apr-04-2003 00:44:

Klipsch are awesum.. but worth their weight in gold.. if yu can afford them, then by all means get them.. but try Boston Acoustics or even Altec Langsing Speakers.. i've heard the newer models have a 200WATT sub.. and thats RMS my friends... not P.M.P.O nonsense...

I'd go with a nice Axiom setup.

Amazing audio, they look stunning, and they're not as expensive as some of the competition.

Bang and Olufsen make really, really great subwoofers. They can pound out beats like a mutha******. Also, they have stack speakers that are generally used for home stereos and theatres, but they are WICKED for DJing.

and they are too expensive...

ok i work at a home theather store for 6 years now and have seen alot of the name brands out there. The klipsh speakers rock and they actually use a horn tweeter which enables the speaker to play ear percing loud. B&O is a company that strives behind their name and the modern style. They are very expensive and although im not familar with their complete line up i would assume that you get a better bang for your buck by buying klipsh. in all honesty it all depends on what you plan to do with them, how well you can hear the difference, and whether or not your will to spend the money for the slight difference.

hope this helps.

btw those axioms look pretty sweet i would love to find a pair to hear what they sound like.

if u know allot about speakers you can generally see their quality but read the specs of the speaker.

most of the above speakers looked pretty shit tho

bose sucks, they make speakers that aren't worth 5$, like a home cinema from only 2 speakers yeah right the people who believe these marketing tricks are just stupid and should be informed with some real audio-knowing people

in about two weeks i'm going to buy some b&w 602 s3's or mission m51
really good speakers
and in about a year i'm gonna replace my sony receiver (10 years old from the time that sony was making some good class-a stuff better then that home-theathre from 2cm satellites) with a marantz onkyo or denon

and you can't see their quality from the specs or the outside you have to listen to them, i know speakers who look like shit but sound better then a whole collection from a electic store

to everyone who think they have good speakers listen to mission or b&w you gonna be suprised

Posted by arj1o1 on Apr-08-2003 14:41:

and bang&olufsen (b&0) are famous because of making modern designs from their televisions and stereo installations
they look nice but are very expensive and the quality of the speakers and receivers/cd-players are shit compared to the stuff you can get with the same price

I am thinking of getting "Cambridge Megaworks 5.1" speakers for my PC. Can anyone rate the performance of these?

B&W are excellent speakers! one of the best brands on the market, very $$$ expensive too...

Paradigm are also up there with B&W...

I have a pair of Paradigm Studio 20s and I love them...

which reminds me, lets have everyone here list their home stereo systems

Posted by arj1o1 on Apr-09-2003 14:26:

my system:

sony amplifier (gonna be changed in about a year)+cdplayer

bose 301 seires 1 (from 1970 from my parents the time when bose made excellent speakers)--> gonna be changed in b&w 602 s3's in a bout a week because one woofer of the 301 is broekn when the system was playing too hard

scott dvd838 dvd-player (with mp3 playback) just simple and cheap but working fine
