Goa Lovers!!

Hello

I can't get enough goa tunes! I'm trying to find full dj sets of goa music. I have a few, but want to know where I can get more. My favourite album is Oakenfold's "Voyage into Trance". I know its kind of old, but it sounds soooooooooooo good. Its not to crazy or psychadellic, but more rythmic and spacey. Also has very cool melodies and patterns. Are there more older goa sets like that?

Anyways, can't wait till OM Festival. Hope yall come out, its gonna be hype!!!!!

Thanks Skywarped, i'm downloading your sets right now, can't wait to hear them! How is the edmonton scene? Lots of goa parties? Toronto has some every now and again.

I had a question about Napster. In your website, you say check out goa.napster.com and rave.napster.com servers. What does that mean, and how do I do that? Also, I have some goa sets you'd probably like, but they're off of Napster, so you might already have them.

Another question, is Reason good for making psy/goa trance? I've used Rebirth and just got FruityLoops and Acid, wondering how it was compared to those. Do you know where could I get the full version of Reason?

Anyways, thanks for your sets! Ever spin in Toronto?

Six04 : do you go to many Black Light Activist parties / Moonshadow parties? there is a Moonshadow Cherry Beach party coming up in theory on June 6 .. I haven't confirmed it but when i talked to Dan (of moonshadow) he said that was when they were thinking of doing it..

i went back to bombay early this year with some friends (without parents) this time and it was great we hit some clubs and got a bit of that goa music in there it was great i had no idea there was such a sub culture to it!
check out infected mushroom a friend over there told me about them they rock there really good if you like that style! i think they had a new album soon saw it on www.trance.nu a while ago looks good!

thats not easy to answer though it has just that..psychedelic sounds in it whatever that means sometimes its more scratchy or sometimes more repetitive i cant really explain it im not the right person to answer that question.. as far as infected mushroom...their frist album was really good their second was the shit and the third WAS shit..what a shame..

Psy-Trance is a trance which combine many sounds into one melody instead of one or two sounds in melodic/progress trance that creates the melody, and also doesn't repeat itself.
usually psy trance doen't have a permenant rate/rhythm, like the bases in the usuall trance.

and you can say that Goa is a fast and "basy" psy.

and yes, yahel is a psycehdelic artist eventhough he producted some club-trance.

Goa trance is amazing. I describe it as lots of different rythms and patterns with a warm, soft and driving beats/bassline. It also has cool melody patterns sometimes with an Israeli flavour. Goa trance usually is an oddesy or voyage or journey into space or mystic places, almost like it tells a story. It can be very natural and tribal and it can be very spaced out. As for psy trance, I'm not exactly sure what differentiates psy from goa, but I think of Infekted Mushroom as psy trance and Astral Projection (my favourite) as goa. Psy is darker and dirtier, with lots of crazy sounds going everywhere. Sometimes it doesn't sound "right" to me until I let it grow on me for a bit. I hope that helps, this is only my personal interpretation. The best way to find out is to hear it! If you like trance, I'm sure you'll get into goa trance. Get some astral projection, it kicks ass!!! I even saw them live in Montreal, they're sooo ruff.

hey man, gsr's are ruff still and rare. Anyways, i think all goa trance is like a voyage. I think more than most types of music, goa and psy trance sounds the best when you can hear the left and right speakers clearly (i.e. walkman). That way you can hear all the cool psychadellic and space out sound effects. I usually get really involved with the music, I don't really listen to it as background music. When I smoke weed, i LOVE goa, cause i'll just fall into it. Get Astral Projection, Hallucinogen, Chi A.D. Man With No Name. There are tons more. My favourite albums are Oakenfold's Voyage into Trance and Goa Mix Silver.

also recommended is space mantra, a compilation by an israeli label, for much rougher sound theres the heavy machinery compilation, for a little more lighter but still absolutely excellent psy trance with lots of melodies theres infected mushroom - classical mushroom...for cool psy trance more spacey and still sort of hard kicking theres serial killaz compliation...for pure goa sound theres the goa head series and destination goa series...all are recommended
