Has Ibiza Lost Its Charm?
I remember when i first got into trance all I heard about was Ibiza, but now many say that its over commercialized and I havent heard as much buzz about it nemore. I would like to travel to a place like iBIZA, meaning somewhere where electronic music and electronic music venues are prevalent. Immediately Ibiza first came to my mind but then I thought about it, and I wondered is Ibiza the best place to go during the summer, and if not where is, thoughts neone?
You are definately right Vanfecto...Ibiza is not what it used to be. For a couple of years now it hasn't been the same. It has gotten way too commercialized and a lot of the people that go their still aren't there as much for the music like it used to be, they just go there to get annihilated bc Ibiza has become synonymous with drugs. of course not everyone is like that burt thats just my opinion of how its gotten. For a lack of a better comparison Ibiza has become a destination for the Mtv type spring breakers. So it has now become one big commercialized keg party.
I have been going there for years and year after year it has been getting worse. Unfortunately thats what happens when a scene gets more exposure and becomes more popularized.
A place I like to go that has the same type feel as Ibiza but is a little more refined(not as crazy as Ibiza was) is Punta del Este in Uruguay! They get a lot of big name Dj's there in the high season, but sadly it does not compare to what the talent that Ibiza gets.
The best place i would say for electronic music is Miami during the Winter Music conference, its like all the Ibiza parties and Dj's compressed into 1 week of non stop partying. By far Miami during that week has the most Dj's and parties I have ever seen in my whole life, its truly 1 week of bliss for electronica lovers
I think you're right in some way...
Been to Ibiza the last 3 summers, they were all nice, but I think the Winter Music Conference in Miami could be much better. We're saving money already for next year. 
Ibiza is a great experience, especially when you go there for the first time. We have some beautiful memories from the island but won't go back there the next years....
The whole scene has lost its charm.ibiza is being over run with cheese heads, just like the industry.

But it has lessened for sure
Commercialization as you say it has ruined it to an extent 
WMC for sure man, i looked at Space's lineup, to die for. I guess my only gripe is that its only a week, and not sort of like a season the way Ibiza is. I almost had a chance to go but school dates dont lineup. Neway I definitely think its Mtv's exposure to Ibiza thas a large problem. I mean the only reason I wanted to even go to Ibiza is fo the music, and the landscape was secondary. Now Mtv has cashed in and started to promote and i guess the running of the cheese has begun.

What about the other islands such as Mallorca and Minorca???

Nooo!!! Visiting IBIZA is still on my "TO DO" list right next to Winning a Peace Noble Prize. Great! Damn you MTV!!! Damn YOU!!! Ladies and Gentelmen. I think there should be a major reconstruction in the scene. Wrong word..how about RELOCATION! The NEW place for TOP Trance music is CANADA! Its NEW here, thus not commercialized. Its not bambarded by American corporate greed, yet preaty close to the great US of A! TORONTO is the CITY of Electronica Future! After all, TA is originated in Toronto! Ohhh!!! Can't fight that point!

how can u guys talk shit about IBIZA if u never been there? the beaches, the BITCHES. o The trance. My god. Im going this summer
the only way u'll know is if u go there , everyone has different views on everything. So best thing to do is experience it ur self.! cant wait for august

Ibiza last year was even no comparison to just 2 years ago. But its still worth the trip, Amnesia is my favourite venue in the world still, though they did ruin it by closing the terrace over last year, thus creating oven-like conditions inside!
Not so many big nights this year as the past few years, being taken over by crappy skool disco suckfest efforts to drag in all the beer boys of San An. If you are going do not get a place in San An, full of toss-pots, pay a bit more for the much nicer (mind your arse though) Ibiza Town.
id agree its lost its appeal a bit recently
in 99/00 it was THE place for trance! then it got commercialised like trance did IMO! hopefully the tossers that go will stop going soon and it will return to the way it was before when it was at its best!
Wouldn't it be nice if people from TA could orginize a global event? something 3 days to a week long.... do they even have any big conference parties in canada? just thinking out loud

finally made it to Ibiza last year... and was stunned: beautiful people, sun, beaches, Cream@Amnesia... I think you just can�t beat an Ibiza party for the vibe...
I�ve been partying in Washington DC, Bangkok, Ko Phangan, Hamburg, Berlin, London, Amsterdam, The Hague... but Ibiza is special, me thinks. All the other places are great and I had a lot of fun, but people flock to Ibiza and a club like Amnesia for one reason only - and you can almost "feel it in the air".
Really looking forward to August this year...
