Talking Chicane - Live from Palladium (01-22-2000)

Be Cool!

This set has been around for ages now, but I still throw it into my cd player every once in a while.

Really, how can you take issue with a set that has so much energy? Halcyon live is stunning and the *still* unreleased Mojave is brilliant.

My only real complaint with this set is still that it was very new song centric with only Offshore from the original album, I would have liked to have heard some more variation, maybe some old songs like Lost You Somewhere, Sunstroke, or Red Skies...

Still, great set, highly recommended to anyone who likes Chicane's sound...

I agree with cortex, Chicane could have thrown in some more oldies, but of course back then people would have complained just like they do now, when famous DJ's play old tunes, it seems we are never happy. All in all this is an awesome set, that somehow I deleted by mistake ages ago, so thanks to Swamper for putting it up again, truly a great set

How do you know it's PA? and what exactly is the difference with PA.

Read This!

Quite simply put, this is one of the most complete trance sets I've ever listened to. This is great music for chillin' with your friends, or better yet helping ease any tensions when behind the wheel.
The transitions between tracks are mastered beautifully and the way the music builds into each crescendo is magnificent!
What helped me differentiate this set from others is the percussion utilized within this set. You'll notice a very stimulating congo/bongo drum beat throughout this set.

This set is one you can listen to over and over without getting sick of.

If you haven't downloaded it yet, what are you waiting for.

dig the vocals

I absolutely love this set, but ive got a question, you guys say that the "mixing" is good, but it seems like chicane just lets a song play till the end, and then leaves a pause then starts playing the next track. i wouldn't know the first thing about djing/mixing, but can someone fill me in on why there's so much praise for the mixing in this set, anyone can simply press the play button
cheers

Best set ever posted here at TA. 1 hour of pure quality. This guy is so talented. How many other producers/DJs in the world can present an hour of songs created by them that are this good? Very few. The only set I have ever rated 10/10.

Posted by SynthTrance on Mar-24-2004 07:31:

Nice tracks on this set... but i'll have to agree with the other guy who said the mixing was okay...

Posted by daphunky1 on Apr-08-2004 02:06:

I agree. There doesn't seem to be any mixing at all within this set.

Posted by fiberglass on Apr-12-2004 01:27:

I don't know the first thing about mixing really, but I was under the impression that Chicane was actually preforming their songs live. I doubt they're just spinning vinyl of their very own songs. So I think people are praising the transitions from one song to another, which are actually really nice towards the end. This is a great, great set.
