My first post here..so bear with me :-)
I have been following trance for years now..visiting this forum a lot..but I registered just lately.
I have been trying so hard to get my friends to atleast appreciate Trance..they just say its repetitive..told them to get into the groove..same comments...about quality songs like dj tiesto-flight 243...mermaids dream-progression ....
Is it just my selection of songs...or something wrong about them?You can never change the way you are...

It's your selection of songs, Tiesto songs are very similar.
And newbies don't warm up to trance very well.
I'd say, try some harder trance or some classic techno hits, not new age techno, fairly old german techno.
That'll switch them I bet

if they think tiesto is repetitive, try to get them to listen to hard house (fergie, lisa lashes) or deep house (some halo/hipp-e)

What kind of music do your friends listen to? Because I found out if they like rock or alternative if u show them some good hard trance or hard house then u can get them to like it
Best way to get people to like trance is to first get them hooked on Mel C - I turn to you, Jennifer Lopez remixes, and all kinds of other MTV bullshit.
Once they start dancing, hit them with Tiesto or Safri-Duo. Booyah.

Agreed! That's how I got started listening to trance..started with songs like Mel C- I turn to you..which I heard at a club, and then I started progressing my taste in trance into the likes of Tiesto, Armin, etc...
and if all else fails... hit them with PvD - For An Angel...
that's wat did it for me!

Most of the guys I know that really love trance now,listened to hardcore before that,but I made them switch to trance,know I wouldn't goin' that far ,and make your friends heart their ears,but hit them with some harder stuff lilke already said ,dj scot project and stuff,really powerfull songs

Im addicting my girl right now......She hated trance but in one week i made her change her mind......
How did i do?
First i made her realise how much trance means to me.
When i got to work i knew she would sit for 7 hours in fron t of the computer chatting with her friend cause shes
from another part of the country. So i filled my Winamp with nice trance trax as Gouyrella and Airscape........
When work ended i got an SMS from her..i quote:
Your trax are indeed quite good. Have listened all day and i think that they are good...=)
Then to step number 3......i played
Infernal - Sunrise
when we made out a couple of times......
Yesterday i noticed she sang along with it and then she asked me the name of it so she could get it on napster....
Im no far away from addicting her i think......she listened to Westlife before so im quite proud :O)
Try this out......But please spare me the "Make out" part if you are trying this on your friends.....

Hey good topic.. I think the thing trhat is the most important if you want people to like trance is not to play them full 10 minuts orignal versions of trance trax, which are ofcource repeatitive at the beginning so the DJs that play them could mix them well Play them some mixes with melodic trance trax like Rank 1-Airwave,Solar Stone - Dead Cities,PVD - For an Angel ,Webdrivers,BT,Gouryella..How can someone say those trax aren't good????
..and most important don't play them trax with vocals that say 'party' or 'rythm' and all that crap... that's what most Trance haters think this music is all about..

Don't try to force your friends to like trance...if they don't understand it then that is their misfortune. I have lots of friends that love trance, and then others that only like to listen to it "out" at clubs or parties. I myself, have to listen to it all the time!!!
