Ask torontotrance, he knows a lot about chill-out and ambient, he reviews it for ivibes.nu i think.

Also, do a search for chill out....you will find many many threads on it.

Someone call my name?

I view chillout/downtempo and ambient as different genres

Zen Connection 1 and 2
You got some decent chill stuff on d:Fuse's new EP
Biosphere's stuff
Ulrich Schnauss's albums

my alltime fave is Global Communications's 76:14 (must have)

I like some of Pork Recordings stuff (Pork 103 was ace)

There are tons of unheard of artists.

Actually I chillout to classical music, most of the time

I just got:

Chill in India: Lo mejor de Indian Chill Out

Flamenco Chill 2

They're both made in Spain, but they're good, especially the Flamenco one

I don't know if anyone is familiar with Aural Imbalance or the Deep Space Organisms or anything on the Cadence/Within/Deep Space Recordings labels, but they have some really good chill music. It's really deep, atmospheric, and dubby with a minimal beat to it. Aural Imbalance just mixed a new cd called Intuition. It's well worth a listen.

If you are into Lo-Fi or stuff like that, I'd also recommend Calypso by Sven van Hees. It's such a great lounge cd with a hint of jazz, very appropriate for summer.
