Darkbeat said it right... most people I know who are not TA's and that listen to edm, only know of GDLB and ASOT. It's a shame that more ppl in America don't listen to other weekly/monthly broadcasts, but I have a more positive prospective on this.
Ok, most of us here love this music to death, that's why we post here. We hear about the latest tracks, here samples of them/get promo's, and then know what to go out and get. Yet, for all the ppl out there who don't even know what tranceaddict is or that there is a world of forums out there for this music, ASOT is a way for them to hear the newest tunes on a weekly basis.
This way, they can still keep in touch with the music they enjoy. And If they get really interested, maybe then they will start looking things up and become immerced in the community.
In America, you have to start somewhere. Some 6 years ago, I was lucky enough to be introduced to the music by a friend/dj who spins out. Not everyone here is introduced to the music this way.
So yes, not everyone is a fan of ASOT. But it is one of the most widely known broadcasts that actually reflects our music culture. And to me, that is most important. The less dance cheese (*cough* djsammy) that is played on the radio the better. That is what has tainted Americas View of Trance.... to most, "everything is techno and it sucks".
This has to change... and the only way for that to happen is for more stations to play music that ppl in our community truely appreciates.
