Tracks like Offshore - Chicane and The Eternal - Jon Amnesia describe a holiday sunset mood so nicely. Whenever I listen to Offshore I feel like I am there in some sea beach. And listening to The Eternal brings back the vedio of Ibiza's Children to my head in a nostalgic way and white buildings shown in the vedio.

I was wondering do the producers of these tracks actually be at the scene outdoors during sunset or something while composing such wonderful tracks? Or is it they do it indoors in their air conditioned studios in London/Amsterdam?

I have seen poets being at nature while writing their jewel peices.

Is it that these producers too are in synch with nature while composing such tracks?

they just take in there experiences, from being on the coast i suppose, nick bracegirldle, really exels at this imo, that guy is just so chilled when ive seen him do interviews on tv and in his videos,
i guess his personality shines through in his production work, a very laid back style which i really like, and when ever ive got a lot on my mind i stick on a chicane cd, and i forget everything for a while

Offshore is just that perfect track (Disco Citizens Mix), and when i put needle to record, it just transports me back to summer/beaches etc

Yeah Chicane's stuff is magical, I just wish there were more artists like him nowadays, who release full albums that are conceptual. That is essential what I think he was aiming for, a more conceptual sound, not one made exclusively for the dance floor. Heck a lot of his stuff, as mentioned, is very chilled, but also energetic too. So many layers. The images his music brings to you is amazing. A feeling of euphoria rushes over you. I am very selective now when looking for tracks, and love tracks that put images in your mind, not just of sunsets or sunrises, even though I love them. If you listen to stuff by Kalafut & Fygle, or Micro de Govia, you'll notice that there music is like your in another world. It doesn't make me think sunsets, it makes me think of being enveloped in brightness in some other plane of existence, or in some huge, dark temple, church or pyramid with a little bit of light pouring in, feeling connected to a higher power. It's quite spiritual...ethereal. Thats what stuff I tend to look for in my music. Journey music if you will.....but that doesn't mean i wont ever listen to anything really funky and fun too, I just prefer stuff that is, in a way...an emotional release and an escape from reality. I would add though that Mark Otten's stuff is chilled yet dancey too..sunrisey too like Chicane. I hope he releases an artist album someday.

Fuck, I couldn't find a better way to say it. Chicane just owns so much. Such a talented man. Yes, Trance with soul. Something we don't see often now a days. Such a producer will never be born again.

EDIT: Mark Otten is also a very ,very talented guy. Saw him once at @ trance event not knowing he was standing next to me talking to a friend of mine. Mark Otten is one of the producers I have very high hopes for.

Yeah I think Kalafut & Fygle, Micro de Govia, Mark Otten and perhaps some Probspot are the cloest we are going to come to having soul in trance again. I definitely think Mark Otten has lots of potential as being the next Chicane, seeing Chicane has't released an album in 6 years almost. Would be really curious to hear an album by Mark Otten....Kalafut & Fygle also have much potential, but they have only released a few tracks as well. I think what makes these artists so good is that they don't rush making a track in a few hours, they seem to take their time. Each song is constructed lik a mini-movie, a part of a bigger whole, which will definitely take time to come together as a whole. Micro de Govia has done this, and it's brilliant, and Probspot's album isn't bad either, quite varied.

Yeah producers should really take their time to produce their tracks. Spending time = Quality. I would be careful comparing Mark Otten to Chicane though. As I said, Mark Otten owns, but he has a long way to go if you want to compare him to Chicane.

Yeah I know he has a way to go, but I think from the quality of his productions and the time and effort he puts into them is a lot like Chicane. I mean no one really has come to the same level of quality that Chicane produced (other than Don't Give Up IMO, didn't like that song). But Mark Otten is getting there. I would say that "Mushroom Therapy (Lightscape Mix)" and "Crossrodas" are probably the best tunes he has produced. His other productions are fine, but they don't quite match the ethereal beauty of these two...

BT is pretty good at it...

Dreaming comes to mind, hearing scott bond drop it at gatecrasher at docklands ahhh the whole crowd was into it....

Yeah BT is incredible. He was one of the first producers I got into around 1998, when I heard Ima and ESCM. "Flaming June" is another one, and so is "Embraching The Sunshine". The albums after those two have been okay, but those two stand out to me as being key albums that established BT as an artist who can take people on little head journeys into a dream-world of sorts.

I like this thread, glad some other people share some my sentiments about the images this music puts in your head, and the profound affect it has on the listeners and the producers. Trance is more than just dance music! I've tried to express this many times on various threads on TA, i'm kind of annoying myself with it .
