The function of .cue files is to burn cds in fact it is more like a tracklist with times and it tells the cd burner when starts and end songs .. for example .. you download a live here on tranceaddict and want to make a copy of it .. you will need to split the tracks if you don't want your cd to be only one track of like 76mins .. the thing you do is to create a .cue file with instruction to split the larger track into multiple tracks giving the time you want him to start and end each tracks .. it may seems complicated when you read this .. but it's only because I'm not really good teaching things Well if you don't understand .. ask again .. maybe someone will answer you a little more easily Cya!

thanx. despite what you think, that was a good explanation/confirmation. i kinda thought that's what a .cue file was but i wasn't sure since i've never used one before. another question. for the .cue file to function properly, i am assuming that you simply copy it to your new cd as the first file on the disk. am i correct. if not, what do you do so that the cd player reading the disk follows the instructions on a .cue file? one more thing...how do you make a .cue file? (i've been using the mp3 cutter in swamper's software section to split up my sets into multiple tracks and then burning each file as individual tunes). i need an easier method.

First of all, you don't need to copy the .cue file on the cd you're burning .. the cue file is only a sort of "guide" for the cd burner .. [btw your music file must be in .wav when you burn it to work properly in your cd player or stuff like that] Secundo .. to make a .cue file, it's very simple and complicated at the same time the simple part is that you can do that in a wordpad or even in a notepad file and then rename it to .cue .. the complicated part is that you need to code lots of stuff .. that's why I have this little program who does the hard work for you : CDRCue CueSheet Editor

It's a very simple program and not hard to understand .. the only thing that is tricky is the PREGAP or POSTGAP thing .. when you know it .. it's simple .. PREGAP is the time you want between two tracks .. [usually 2sec] .. if you're burning a liveset .. you don't have to bother with this option cause the music is all at once .. [POSTGAP does the same except the 2sec is after the track instead of before]

Doing all this stuff seems way too complicated but you save a lot of time you know how cutting parts of a live can be boring Well I hope I did help you .. Oh and btw you will need CDRCue to burn your cd with this type of files (.cue) .. or maybe Nero does it too .. I don't know Nero .. can't tell you for this one ..

Cya man! If you have other questions on how to use CDRCue Cuesheet Editor, ask them!

First of all, it doesn't have to be a wav file, it can me an mp3 file also! And you forgot to mention that you need to get a burning program called CDRWIN.
