Ill be honest with everyone. I never really enjoyed most of the Teisto cd's I heard past or present. I liked alot of his production work and remixes but his cd compliations were not my style.
It only was when I got Tiesto's In Concert DVD that I was like wow I like the songs he is playing ( there were a few really hard one I didnt care for , but most of the dvd Iliked).
Unlike Paul Van Dyk and Armin whose style I liked more at an ealier pointinmy trance life , Tiesto kinda emerged.
-----My 2 Cents---
PVD
I persoanlly like alot of the songs PVd plays but he has a weird tendency to play some really hard repettive annoying beat sh!t in his sets which I hate. I think I love his production and remix work the best of all the djs. I think I was blinded in beleiving that he would spin similar to his production work and as a result when I heard the "bangin" ( i.e. the super hard kiddie hard trance) PVD I was kinda disaapointed in him. I like melodies but I also like hard stuff but not annoying simple crap I hear him play. That said PVD drops some very good hard /melodolic songsthat i love. i.e a current example would be dogzilla-your eyes.In his nature one set this year I would say 70% was awesome but 30% was alittle to hard and stupid annoying hard trance for my taste. I am not sure if it was becuase PVD introduced me to trance or becuase Ilove his production work so much that I always will have a place in my heart for PVD. But his live sets are not what I as expecting from my hero.
Armin
I heard someone else mention that armin plays alot of anthems and after anylizing his tracklists from recent to past I kinda agree with this comment. He seems to drop alot of crowd favorites. But he always past and recent has always stayed true to his roots i.e trance. Unlike PVD , when I bought armins production work and his remixes than I went to go see live there is no difference. He is a trance dj and producer at both ends. No surprises when you go see him. Armin is a very constant DJ. However, unlike PVD ,imo, he doesnnt quite drop those new massive tracks that PVD finds. That said everytime I see Armin live I always feel that I got my moneys worth and I enjoyed the show. Armin is the best live on the spot DJ in the world imo. He seems to please the crowd the best.
Tiesto
All the magic cds I have of his are ok. nothing great. maybe if I was listening to them back in 2000 Iwould feel differently but there not as good as I think ppl make them out to be. I really like his TIC tracklist. I just enjoyed every song he played ( expect disc 3 which was a little to hard). What I loved about him though was his passion and crowd interaction. He jsut seemed to be having fun. It was something new. Seeing him dance to the music kinda made me enjoy the song more. I really enjoyed the very melodic songs he would play. Alot more trancier at times than say Armin. when he puts time and effort in building his tracklsits his is truely amazing, but like I expereinced in Chicago live, he is one of the worst "on the spot(i.e. very little sleep , no preperation , etc)" Dj's to see live. That said Tiesto seems to be able to save himself and his fans by creating these massive parties where he prepares a tracklist (i.e olympics) and wins his fans back and new fans as well.
I think Tiesto would be amazing if he just did 8 large world events. events he would plan and take the time and energy to create. For example one large IN Concert event for NYC, USA would be fine for allof us USA fans. If people knew this was going to be magical they and I would make the effort to see him live in NYC.

I was listening to his older mix CD's some time ago and to me the mixing sounded exactly the same it does today... |
his style is unique the ebrasive way he djs - altho occasionally not seemlessly is a lot better than waiting for outro's and having 8 minute tracks like Armin.
I love his old CDs - they are EVEN more raw than his current form - check the Forbidden Paradise series - thats djing in ur bedroom if ever i heard it - but it sounds great cos the flow is there.
2 piazza - its interesting that after 2 years... still people on TA are bitching over him - instead of just getting over it and moving on to something they do like... maybe that explains even though no-one likes him (apparently) he can remain popular. Although they hate the mixes - they keep on looking him up lol
TIC wasn't that amazing IMO - his sets around it in the clubs to promote going to it were... at the minute his long sets of 3hrs in clubs are outstanding. CHECK MONTREAL
A pity we only get to hear his 90 min brief sets from fort dance or global or olympics... otherwise u might agree he has got great form right now.
