Rollerball - Albinoni (what classical music piece is it adapted from!!?)

Am I being retarded? Where is Rollerball adapting this melody from (it particulary in the Super8 remix). Definately reminds me of a piece of classical music that I can't put my finger on. But blast it, I swear I recognize it. If it's original than it's even greater than I thought.

Anyway, just wanted to know really... nothing important, just curious really.

Rollerball - Albinoni is based on Tomaso Albinoni's (1671-1751) "Adagio in G minor for String Orchestra" which is also known as "Adagio for organ and strings" or simply "Adagio", composed in Italy back in the 18th century and reconstructed by Remo Giazotti in 1945..

and i just have to add some cool details to this i found:

"In 1945, Remo Giazotto, a Milanese musicologist traveled to Dresden to complete his biography of Albinoni and his listing of Albinoni's music. Among the ruins, he discovered a fragment of manuscript. Only the bass line and six bars of melody had survived, possibly from the slow movement of a Trio Sonata or Sonata da Chiesa. It was from this fragment that Giazotto reconstructed the now-famous Adagio, a piece which is instantly associated with Albinoni today, yet which ironically Albinoni would doubtless hardly recognize."
