Guys, I was just wondering if you know of a site or something that help people understand different elements of electronic music.. when people talk about stuff like drum snares and riffs I sorta understand but if I listened to a song I wouldn't know what the different sounds are called!!

it's obviously not important to know this stuff too much since I'm not a dj or a producer but I need to describe these in my "job"

thanx in advance

hehe.. long story, I'll be the world's biggest fake dj...
I wanted to be a dj but I don't have money for equipment (plus I'm intimidated, I dunno why I walk into a record store and I get weird looks, I think it's harder for girls to get taken seriously), the name stuck cuz I play the cd's at parties and so in a ghetto way I am a dj for my friends...

hey you never know tho, hmm.. actually I don't want to be a dj anymore.. there's too many dj's out there anyhow

In my opinion, you should not stop thinking about being a DJ just because your a girl and it's harder for a girl to get taken seriously .. I think you should at least try .. If people where you live do weird looks to girls when they enter a record shop, they're probably .. hmm .. let's say close-minded (I don't know if it's a word but anyways ) If your good at playing music and djing, you should be proud of doing it 'cause there's not a lot of girls djing .. not enough I think .. Girls could bring something new in trance .. a new sound, maybe a more "polished" sound (girls are more perfectionist than boys in my opinion .. ) Well it's my opinion like I said so you can do whatever you want with it .. but one thing I'm sure is that you should not stop just because you get weird look and that there's a lot of djs out there .. It's not a good reason I think ..

For what it's worth I give props to people who can spin and throw down some wicked tracks that keep people dancing all night... Even if a DJ isn't the best at least they're out there trying to hype up the party as best they can...

I dunno.. I guess since I'm not a DJ I put up this site to fill that void... haha.. oh man.. ok i'll stop now before I get cheesy

I totally thought you were a Dj Swamper!! Anyways, I think that if I really wanted to dj I would already have somehow started on it.. except for the friggin equipment, I spend lots on cds and clothes so maybe I should stop buying them

but I still have a little extra curricular activity of reviewing albums and I'm afraid someone's gonna read them and tell me I dunno wtf I'm talking about it makes sense of really knowing your basics before writing about them..

thanx for the support tho guyz!!!

latez...

Hi there DJ Furee.

Check out www.futuremusic.co.uk - Future Music is a UK Music Tech magazine and there's a reasonable amount of stuff on their site as well as links etc.

Or if you need more specific information, just give me a shout.....

Heyhey people..

Well.. I'm not a DJ either, (not everybody has the time for it) still.. I'm a trance-'lover', and a friend of mine mixes his own cd's (which i put together).. Not everyone has the money AND TIME (and feeling) to be a dj, so if i think you can role some wheels of steel, and other ppl think you do that okay, then why throw that away. If you have the opportunity, TRY and TAKE!! I want to be one too, but i dont have the time & material to do it, so.. I'll have to manage with this..

And about that girl-thing, Sonique r0x too!!!! so it is possible..

Try the best u can Furee, if you still want to Dj, because there are way too many male DJ's around (which aren't all that good) and not enough females by far.
Make woman follow your lead, inspire them, BE A ROLE MODEL...

Or am i overreacting...

You guys and girls need to know just 1 thing, certain people have a feel for good music, they (and me) don't have to dj but that doesn't preclude u from knowing good tunes...
