I Have been searching everywhere for decent electronic ambient music for......
.....a day spa. *I told you to bear with me*.
It's for the treatment rooms.
Basically I need ambient electronica, lots of it, but nothing that has a beat (or hardly anything), and nothing that get's too weird or dark(emo). And nothing with a god damn flute or the sound of water over waves. Or windchimes. No lame vocals and no cheesey celtic or oriental stuff either.
I want stuff that you would like to get a massage too. No, not porn music, so no funk bass.
I'm honestly stumped by this one. I just can't find anything that isn't either cheesey as hell or so dark you want to slit your wrists.
The closest I've found is the Chilled Euphoria series and even that is a bit too Maison D'fromage.
Any help with artists, compilations or greatly appreciated!!!

Ultimae Records is your friend. Granted, there's rhythm in most of their releases, but so long as you play it real quiet-like, it should do the trick.
Edit: And d'oh! How could I forget Brian Eno!?? Scope out a bunch of his 80s ambient work.

EDIT: Actually, on first read-through I thought you were just after stuff for you to listen to while getting treatment. If this is about music to play over the PA, you're still best off getting some drone ambient, but probably not quite as head-fuck as that mix.
mmm... perhaps you might be after some ambient jazz? I've been searching for this stuff for ages but haven't really come across any. The closest was a couple of biosphere tunes but they were a bit too dark for what I was after. Would be really keen to hear any suggestions for ambient jazz.
For other ambient stuff, I think some Koss could go down well. Check out Koss - 4 worlds converge as one or the Ancient Rain album.
That Pozz set looks great, lots of top names in there.

Thanks guys, really appreciate the responses!
It is actually for the treatment rooms themselves, not for the reception which has a more downtempo baleric mix.
Now here's the thing. The massage tables actually have low frequency resonator drivers, which you actually feel.....and that's why there can't be a beat, because it's too much during a 1 hour treatment.
I'll give those suggestions a try and if you have any more keep em coming....

You may want to look into Kompakt's Pop Ambient series, which has a plethora of material that very much reflect some of the criteria you're referring to.
Here's a link to the 2007 edition, which I think is a great place to start:
If that sounds consistent with what you're asking for, go ahead and search through all the others, as it's an annual compilation that dates back to 2001 (just search for 'Pop Ambient' under the release search in the Beatport search bar to have all of them come up).
You may also want to look into a producer known as Klimek (who also releases heavily under Kompakt); his productions tend to be very sparse, and I can't recall any that have any type of beat or rhythm. Here's a link to one of his albums:
this free album http://www.discogs.com/Wieland-Samo...release/1734486 you can get it for free on monolake.de -- he doesn't want anyone to post links tho. check out his website. got interesting stuff like essays on contemporary edm and the like
How much stuff are you looking for roughly? cuz this list can be continued fairly endlessly.
EDIT: these are quite slow pieces. maybe too slow for the clientel. i follow ambient music pretty closely so if you have one track that you like the sound of for this project ill recommend some specific stuff.
