I remember this girl I used to work with when I was 14/15 gave me a cassette tape. I didn't listen to EDM at the time, but this song always stood out to me.

I never knew who the hell it was, until today. Great track!

The first one I ever heard? No idea, but the first one I liked enough to remember was probably either "Children" by Robert Miles, or Orbital's "Halcyon + On + On," when I was maybe eleven years old. Didn't learn who did either of those tracks until five or six years later, though.

I had probably heard some eurodance stuff even earlier than that on the radio (Haddaway, Deee Lite, etc.), but I don't remember loving any of it like I did Robert Miles and Orbital.

Would Harold Faltemeyer - Axel F count?

If not, probably one of the many freestyle/dance-pop songs popular on 80's NYC radio... Information Society - What's On Your Mind was one of the first cassettes I've ever purchased. Or something like Paula Abdul/Janet Jackson... first stuff that I remember hearing that was specifically called "dance music" was C&C Music Factory, Snap, and 2 Unlimited. And first straight-up house tune was Madonna's Vogue.

My parents were of the MTV generation, so popular music has been with since a very early age. I think I was either 3 or 4 years old when I first heard Underworld - 'Born Slippy'.

Same. My Dad had it on some pop hits cassette and I used to make him rewind the tape over and over back to that track.

First EDM track I actually heard, well I thought it was one 45 minute long track since I was a n00b. But it was just one of DJ Czech's mixtapes. The one that starts out with the quote from Snatch? Fack trying to remember... Oh yes! Hooked on Phonics. My brother gave me both tapes as a xmas present. I still have them

Then it all started from there. After I switched to Trance in the year 2006-2007 orso I had to do alot of past track finding that were released in the late 90's and early 00's, because I had no idea this type of music existed pre-2001.
