I need your help on something...

I produce trance tracks independently and have them on mp3.com for download...
I was recently approached by a singer who said he took a listen to some of the tracks I produced and was interested in using one or more of the songs for his upcoming album. He wants to change the track into a 3-minute long eurodance-pop song with vocals... The amount of money he's offering for use of the track is pretty good...
BUT... I feel like if I let him use this track, I'm sort of selling out and allowing him to change my song from a pure uplifting trance track to a cheesy pop song about love, and all for the money...

However, if I do let him use it, I can use the money to buy some even better equipment and make better trance tracks...

What do u guys think? Should I do it or not???

Tough call! The thought of selling out will always be in your mind. If the guy is gonna tear your song down to a shit pop song just make sure that although you produced the skeleton of it that your name isn't publicly attached. Know what I mean? If it'll help you to purchase better equipment and make even better trance then that becomes a greater benefit.

Thumbs up good music you got there =o)

hmmmmmmm. damn! tough call there buddy. but its not like you already have a career and your selling out to this. this could help(we hope) in getting a career started though. decisions, decisions. its not like your really selling just to make some money. its for a good reason. i dont know what to tell ya though. but id sell, anything that would help me to one day achieve my dream, i wouldnt hesitate.

Read This! hm...

... well lets see...

HOW much is the guy offering you?

..personaly unless it is an outragous amount, and the guy has to be a total crackhead to offer you that amount, do it.

if you could live without the money, BY ALL MEANS DO SO! I cant remember the sn, but his sig is "trance is life, pop is death" ...i think ur stuff is too good to be turned into a cheesy europop song.

I wouldn't really say you're selling out if you allow someone else to remix your song. In fact, if the remix becomes popular, people that may not have heard the original may take a listen. I say go for it with a clear conscience.

hehehe. yep! tis me. but like trance outlaw said, you could always tell the guy to not affiliate the track with you. but i mean, if you're getting new equipment in the deal, it'll be better in the long run. all for the good of the trance nation. good work myndless!! *pat on the back*

i dont think you should think of it as selling out
you will still have your original work, plus you will have money to buy new equipment to enhance your music/talent and make even better music... anyway, thats my 3 cents
