who's bringin' the funk? or am i just living in the past?
who will satisfy my urge for epic piano lines, uplifting strings, chunky basslines, diva vocals, and funky feel-good melodies?
i don't dislike techno, but it's all i ever hear these days... and all my favorite DJs who used to play the funky stuff seem to be hopping on the techno train. am i just living in the past and holding onto a genre that's no longer "cool" or in style, or are there actually DJs out there who are still playing the funky stuff?
i've been listening to so much 2006-era Luke Fair and Desyn Masiello lately and i'm just dying to hear anything like that in a club again.
I'd suggest you'd try out Add2basket, Tom Morgan, Dana Bergquist & Spirit Catcher sets.
I'm sorry SOS didn't bring the funk on Saturday night you were looking for. I also hope they come back to their roots a little bit more than what they've been playing recently. However, I give them a the benefit of the doubt, because I'm not finding too many funky-house productions lately, either. I'm starting to think it might be a dying genre (which is really too bad). I'd love to find more uplifting piano and guitar tracks myself, but it seems to be few and far between anymore.

A big +1 to that...and Luke Fair is still bringin' it from what I've heard in recent sets. I'd add Rowan Blades, balErik, and yeah...pretty much everyone involved with Discoteca Music.

I'm in the same boat, their set in Melbourne seemed to lack any flow or anything. 0 funky stuff too

I've been wondering the same thing as the OP lately.
but I actually just recently found a really good mix, exactly what you're looking for...but probably from 05.
