Does anyone collect this style of music? I like the music, but its very hard to find the instrumentals, mostly what i find is a bunch of portuguese rapping over the tracks. many times i wish i could get the "dub" version of some of the more popular tracks.
education: kuduro is an afro-rave-techno style born from south portugal and angola africa. its a 140bpm madness of western/european clash with traditional african rhythms. MIA has taken interest in it and she is doing this style of tracks with diplo now.
this is one of the few instrumentals i could find (buraka is playing coachella this year)

ahh so glad someone has some knowledge on this style. if you're referring to MIA's appearance in this one:
then i dont see the gentrification or watering down for middle class/affluent people, because theres plenty of other kuduro tracks where they say "this is kuduro!" and cheesiness like that, at least the one with MIA still has a hard edge sound to it. so if that's watered down, can you point me to the "real ish"?

It is not just across the water, but Angola was portuguese till the 70ies, and lately, after the independence a lot of people from ex-portuguese african countries have come to portugal... That's the reason why the style is from angola in its most natural form, but the mashup with electronic music has been done by portuguese.
I'm not in the genre... but I kind of dig bands like Buraka Som Sistema, which has been turing the US, it seams...
