Nigel Christie - D Tour (Hook Recordings)

Nothing better than some old school trance sounds to kick off the week!

You can't call yourself a Trance fan if you have not heard and purchased yet a single track from Hook Recordings. Launched in 1993, it quickly became one of the most influential Trance labels of the 90ies, mainly thanks to the impressive and consistent work of Chris Cowie, the genius behind tracks such as Neuro and State of Mind. This without forgetting the quality contributions of Transa and the first releases of Christopher Lawrence.

The label took a break for a couple of years until September 2008 when the nostalgic of the Hook Trance sound were excited to hear that the label would return releasing new tracks and launch new artists. It's exactly a release by a new artist the one we are going to present you today.

Nigel Christie – D Tour EP (Hook Recordings)

1. D Tour (Original Mix)

2. Salma (Original mix)

We could not find much information about Nigel Christie. According to the release description he is Scottish and this his debut release, that's all we know about him at the moment. As for the release, this two track EP is quiet simply a joy for all those that have been excited about the return on the scene of Hook Recordings. Both tracks are two really solid trance tracks that sound like nothing that is produced nowadays by the so called Trance labels. D Tour stands out for the hooking (never word has been more appropriate) bassline, while Salma has a great melodic arrangement. This is Trance as it should be. A release not to be missed.

Keen to check this one out.

Now wouldn't it be great if Transa made a comeback as well?

This is a great release. D Tour is solid but Salma is much better. Yay for real trance!

Definitely feeling this.

Glad to see Hook has returned.

Was happy to pick up a digital 320k version of the Planet Hunters EP the other day

D Tour was a little boring. Not bad, but not something I'd buy either. Salma sounds better. I might consider buying that one. I would definitely like to hear more trance like this in the future.
