Exclamation Applications of the String Theory

So
I was thinking, as I often do. The String Theory is pretty damn nice. Although it is something that I wish to continue my studies in, I was wondering what you guys think are some of the nice applications of the theory.

I don't mean to bash the theory, I support it 100% but I just want to know what you guys think.

Some things I belive would be nice:
If we can learn how matter functions at the sub-matter particle level, I belive we would be able to find a way to weaken the nuclear force. We would be able to make fusion reactions in pen sized reactors. Having one of those, and 1 gram of sand, this would be able to power your house for thousands of years.

But I think bigger is better. So something like space travel energy requirements would not be a problem anymore. Thats one of the reasons I wanna go into this field.

urm.. heh. i learned about the string theory a bit this year too..

personally, i think we should find a way to feed all the poeple on this planet before we think about multi dimensional crap liek the string theory.. not to mention that the solution to that problem is like 100-500 years away.

String theory is pretty damned cool. As for feeding the planet I blame that on society/capitalism as I think poverty (at least in the "civilized" world) stems from that. But if practical applications could be done with the theory it would be very interesting.

Capitalism is not inheritly evil, humanity is, capitalism just represents the wills and desires of the people. Over time we have learnt that no form of government or economic system is perfect as each fails due to the failure of humanity to live up to the standards and beliefs which the system has created. I would support communism if it meant a perfect society, but it has failed, capitalism is the best system for which our economies can run on at the moment, though we can make improvements on it.

Sorry for the rant

An area the size of 20% of the state of Kansas grows enough wheat to provide every family in the world with a loaf of bread for every day of the year.

There's enough food out there. It's the distribution/economics part that's fucked.

Ummmmmmm yeah sure humanity is. I agree with what you're saying but capitalism might very good in terms of comparing it with other forms of Gov but is by no means perfect (neither is communism). Since as you say "capitalism is the best system for which our economies can run on at the moment" I think that the improvements to make it better will never happen under capitalism because greed overrules any attempt to change things.

Since you guys love to go on tangents about the goddamn government ,

I'll show you a use in the string theory for providing food for the needy. If we did have fusion in pen sized reactors, the harvesting of food/the baking of bread/the transportation of bread to the needy countries would be practicaly pennies worth since the energy would be so cheap.
