How do u explain to closed-minded people what EDM music really is????
I work with people who are only into hip-hop and mainstream music. When I told them that I like EDM, they were like, "Oh, you're one of those ravers! How do u listen to that crap? It's just a bunch of noise... and you have to take E to be able to listen to it".
I try to explain to them that my music isn't just a bunch of noise, and that I'm NOT a raver or take E to enjoy it... but they won't listen to me!!!!!! GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!
What should I tell them to make them realize what EDM really is??

u dont....u let them stay the way they are....
openmindedness is a gift at birth...u cant change someone later on in life.
however u could possibly convert them to EDM fans....this is by constantly pumping EDM out loud....ive done it before....
see the "common man" assumes that he/she loves teh mainstream crap cos thats the only thing exposed to them ALL day long.
expose them to something else ALL DAY LONG and thats what they will be listening to....
I say don't even bother. If someone responds the way your coworkers did, then don't even try to convince them otherwise. Your efforts will be wasted because they aren't even trying to understand how you feel about EDM. It takes a certain mindset to understand and truly appreciate EDM.

I stopped trying to explain after someone asked me if it was only gay guys who listened to "techno".
