That is, of course, assuming you choose to believe that the Ethiopians who claim to be descended from the Lost Tribes are actually who they say they are. As it stands now, I believe, the rabbis have required all those Ethiopians who claim to be descended from the 10 Lost Tribes to have a full Jewish conversion; just in case.
But the one and only Bob Marley did believe in the connection as is evidenced by his Lion of Judah although if he was from one of the 10 Lost Tribes he would not have any right to the heritage of Judah because Judah was one of the tribes that was not lost. Judah, Benjamin, and half of Menasseh were the independant country of Judah as the 10 Tribes (Israel) had split from them shortly after the death of King Solomon. Judah remained after the expulsion of the 10 Tribes only to be conquered by the Assyrian Greeks a couple hundred years later leading to the whole Hanuka story. Oh ya and the reason they are called Jews today is because all the people we call Jews are descended from the country of Judah and not the 10 Tribes. When the 10 Tribes split off and then half a millenia later were lost there was no such thing as a Jew although there were Judeans Benajaminites and Menassaites who were lumped together and called Judeans. So after that rather longwinded piece, my point is that Bob Marley (assuming he was from the 10 Lost Tribes of Israel) would have to go all the way back to Jacob to have a direct familial connection to the Lion of Judah and go back to the reign of King Solomon to have been able to call a person from the tribe of Judah a countrymen -- maybe he could get away with callin himself a co-religionist after that.
