i got kicked outta university last year.... i been working in a factory for the past 5 months. its not something i wanna do for the rest of my life... it was actually a really good experience though.
luckily i managed to beg my way back in, and i'm goin back to school in january, =D.
go to keggers, bars, and parties. that's all part of university and especially residence life. but at LEAST go to class and spend an hour or 2 for homework. thats the difference between passing and failing. now if you're looking to make the dean's honour list, that's gonna take a bit more work, haha... but yeah, passing all your courses and staying off probation is the least you can do.
getting kicked out is a rough experience... all that time away from school really rots the brains. its relaly hard to go back to school if you're away too long... so yeah... not getting kicked outta school may seem obvious to some, but the temptation for slacking is HUGE, especially in residence.
the demon, i hope you can get your school back on track man. good luck to ya.

If you are new to college I urge you to please be very careful about how you treat college. Its not something you want to joke around with. The reason Iam saying this is that I got kicked out of my course and now I have to meet the co-ordinator to see him and hope he can let me back in. What is the point of this you ask? I slacked off one too many times and now Iam paying for it. Iam pretty sure i can get back in, but its a one time deal for me and I know it will never happen again. If people tell you that college is all party, You tell them then they never want to graduate from it. Take it from me, college can be fun, but thats not why you're there. |
I think the proper title to this thread should be "be careful with anything that has a major life long implications..."
Education, expirence and learning have a life long impact. Anybody who doesn't take it seriously is due to have a problem in later life.
To be honest with any important decision (to be percieved as a major decision) I like to think 10 years out..... What does the best interest to me now 10-years from now??? Ask yourself that question and the answers become quite obvious...
Sometimes in life people are very short-term in perspective - what benifits me for tommorow, today.... What should be asked is: what benifits can I achieve today, for 2 years from now - often the answer is responsiblity, reliability and dedication.
Not to say school is the best answer for all problems, but dedication, understanding and knowledge is important for long term success. I wouldn't be where I am today without taking into consideration my goals 10-years from now.
Best of luck with your situation.

Don't you find this way of living just a little bit boring? Planning everything, and doing everything just to be successfull 10 years from now? What's going to happen 10 years from now? You think you'll just enjoy yourself? NO ! 10 years from now, you are going to have kids, you'll start worrying about RRSP, paying your bill and buying a house, you'll start worrying about getting promoted at work... You'll have millions of other problems that you'll have to worry about.
I say - enjoy yourself now! This age - 20 to 25 is the best time of your life! That's about the only time of your life when you are truly free! If you'll completely devote it to school, I say you'll be missing out on life.
School is important, but so is your life. Learn your abilities, and find out when you can skip a lecture and go party instead and find out when you should skip a party and go to a lecture. Once you do that, you'll be successfull !
