Has anyone here been to the Mutek festival in Montreal? What's it like? What kind of music/acts/DJ's would one expect? From my brief diggings online it looks like techno and experimental electronica but I'd like to see the TA take on the event.

The reason I ask is that someone had asked if I was going and I had not heard about it prior.

minimal techno, ambient, electronica, industrial, noise... whatever you want to call it. I love it. But, its not really danceable material.

More of a showcase of an artist accompanied by a visual jockey in surreal decors....

never been myself, but saw some footage, pics and it looks simply incredible!

This year, Plastikman is doing his first live PA in 9 years !

And Riccardo Villalobos will also be present.

It's gonna be pretty big this year !

word. Mutek should rock this year!

gotta agree with Malek here.. Last year on the Plus8 night, I checked out Richie (first time I saw he borrowed Sven's stylist!) Matthew Dear & Magda, there was a lot more chin stroking than dancing going on, but some of my friends managed to stay on the dancefloor for hours. The crowd is wicked, def. not your usual montreal 'club' variety. It's a nice change.
is it at Metropolis again? That venue is pretty dope for the occasion!

hehe yea richie DID borrow svens stylist, its soo obviois. DAMN i wish i was in montreal for this... i think its gona be @ aria right?

Aria? Nope.. not that I have heard..

The Mutek Festival has been going on for years now in Montreal, not affiliated with any clubs in particular.. as far as I know.
Maybe they will have something lined up for that weekend though (Aria), with so much talent in town for the occasion.
