Alright, so i'm gonna head down to Simcoe for the first time pretty soon. I just got a map of the area and it's surprisingly large. Where exactly should i go? I want a nice sandy beach that isn't crowded.

Sandy Cove sounds good by the name alone. See it? Just south of Barrie, along the coast.

We should take a ride around the lake and scout out a good area! Anyone up for this?

I went to Lake Simcoe about 5 years ago, and yes it was rocky as hell on the beach I was at. As well, I don't think you can go in the water anymore (much like the Toronto harbour). In biology we actually did some tests on water from the Holland River (flows into Lake Simcoe), so much bacteria/algae/phosphate you wouldn't want to go in.

If you want beaches you should I would recommend Wasaga, as it's on Georgian Bay I believe. I'm actually going there for after prom on the 28th

After prom huh?

I remember after our highschool prom - we all got on a bus and went to Wasaga where we had an entire hotel/motel rented for the night and we partied like no tomorrow

But i'm up for scouting!
Except that i don't really have time

I'm not really sure if there is such a thing. But the beach of my choice (if you want sand) would be the one that's in downtown Barrie. It's right off the highway after Molson. It all depends on the day and the time you go there. Usually it's pretty crowded on weekends, weekdays are a completely different story though - practically empty.

Be advised though, Simcoe is still pretty cold, it needs at least a week or so of warm weather to warm up.

But hey, if you do find exactly what you are looking for, do tell us about it.

Dude, I told you...just come to Barrie...Kempenfelt Bay. You even have directions!

edit: There's a gov't dock here in the South end near where I used to live...the water's usually really nice there and there's a sandbar to swim out to. It's pretty secluded, though sometimes busy.

Also, Wasaga water is gross!! We were there last year and a piece of shit floated by us...blech!!!

Alright, so what's the deal with the water? Is it really dirty or what? And is there any sand? I feel like doing some exploring though, "just come to barrie" sounds too easy! I think i'll drive all around the lake and find the best spots. Gonna take 4-5 hours, but i'll makage. Or perhaps i'll do it in two shots.
