The Toronto "scene" and "clubber"
With all the new venues, renovations, and nights in the city this spring, with a look towards the summer season, what impact do you think it will have on the kind of scene this city has, a well as the image of the average Toronto punter?
My personal take on things is that we are seeing the true end of the raver influence in the club scene, the party kid attitude of ppl who can dance with a variety of style, and dress the part as well. Although still there, it is the minority these days.
The big push it seems is for the champagne drinking, elitists, that are there for the event, but not the music. Afterall, it is a business, and door charges in excess of $30 are looking @ becoming the norm.
It'll be intersting to see what clubs survive, and what the atmosphere and crowd will be like @ each. I'm afriad the bar crowd that used to reside @ Whiskey Saigon and Joker and Plastique are going to sweep through our scene in mad packs soon.
